On October 15, 1888, during the height of the infamous Jack the Ripper murders in London's East End, the "From Hell" letter, allegedly from Jack the Ripper, was sent to George Lusk, the chairman of the Whitechapel Vigilance Committee in London. The "From Hell" letter is one of the most notorious pieces of correspondence associated with the Jack the Ripper case
