PhonePe doing Moment Marketing amidst Paytm 🩸
QR, those radios which can't play Arijit or Eminem and Fast tag was major revenue maker of Paytm. Now see, how phonepe targetting that segment that too without a monthly subscription. Ohh, yes. It's a 1 time fee and that can be masterstroke for another decacorn PhonePe. ( ~13B ) Vss was caught sleeping on weekends.

Vendors will not prefer one time 1300 over monthly 100, and that is not a masterstroke. The fact that Phonepe thinks this will works, tells you how far removed from the reality of merchant ecosystem

Merchant - , wo band ho gya, aap phonepe krdo.
Me - Are nahi band hua h, scanner do Paytm ka.
Merchant - Gareeb admi h sahab , sunne me aa rha Paytm band ho jaega Sahara ki tarah.
I paid through phonepe and moved.
Moral - At ground public sentiment is utter negative

I am not commenting on the sentiment of Paytm. I am just saying this strategy won't work. No new merchant is paying 1300. Phonepe had distributed its first 20L soundboxes essentially for free. Next time when you go, ask the merchant, Phonepe ko kitna dete ho or kya 1300 doge soundbox ke liye. You will get your answer
All that money paytm spent is quickly getting un-done. Those users are not coming back now.

They are charging a lot bro lol. I paid 3 or 3.5K as lifetime charges for the Paytm POS and it deducts 25/- every month for the sim.
