VS code search option could help you. 
 1.Understand the task. 
 2.Search related terms over the codebase 
 3.Try understand the module or code flow 
 4.After that try to see where you can add the required changes.

Yeah, I am beginning to realise this. Ever since my college life, I wrote code myself without much help from someone else, just used Google. This kinda developed a guilt in me whenever I have to ask someone from help. Turns out this is a part of the process. Thanks a lot!

Ask for help either from colleagues (if they are friendly or helpful) or from AI tools (if they're allowed). Good ones are Cursor IDE, Codium and Github Copilot.

Faced the same thing here at Amazon. I will tell you, you will get it eventually. Just keep reading the codebase and try to figure it out. Early 2022, ChatGPT wasn't around but I still did it. You would do it too. And yes, ask for help!

Hi all,
I am currently interning at a US medical device healthcare giant.
Its been close to 5 months I'm here. Till now I haven't been assigned any implementation tasks
All I get to do is dry runs, debugging and documentation

PPO is also not guaranteed. It's based on performance.
I feel very scared what would happen if I don't get the PPO. Apart from that, I feel shy asking help from seniors because
a) They are super busy. Always on meetings
b) I feel they would think I'm stupid for asking silly doubts

Even no proper KTs have been given. It's like F around and figure out.

Please advice me how to actually come out of this situation. This is my first corporate experience and I feel worried and scared each day

After conversion I would be allotted the same team and I fear if switching to other faang companies or equivalent would be possible with this tech stack
The project assigned is good though but everything is only C

Hi folks, 
I'm stuck here, I joined this organization a year ago. Still on bench. I'm from a mechanical engineering background. Know only the basics of Java, HTML, CSS, little bit of Javascript. 

Should I learn DSA along with Java and spring boot, mirco services or Javascript, react js. Or please suggest me other tech if they are feasible and would help to switch from my current organisation.
If you have time, a roadmap would be very helpful. Please guide me on this matter.

Its been around a year since I've started working in a service based company as a Frontend dev, WLB, compensation and all is good based on I've just started.
During this year of working I do not feel like I've done anything, our team is working on a product for past 2-3 year and its nearing the completion. My role was mostly to cordinate with testing team and solve frontend bugs and minor addition to the project (which was mostly copy pasting), even doing these minor task took me some time initially and I still have to take help from seniors time to time. 
I got kinda bored with all the repetitive task and I requested my manager to assign me to other development happening within team, he agreed and assigned me some different task but I cant seem to understand anything here, 
I get stuck in the most basic things, I feel stupid when I am not able to come up with easy solutions.

I am seeing other engineers learning new tech stacks in a small amount of time and getting hold of it while i am not able to understand things in my own tech stack.

I've recently gotten a appraisal as well(my company is quite good and gives it to everyone) and I feel like I don't deserve a bit of it.

 I am a 2023 graduate , I did MCA because that was the only good option I could see for myself(mostly cz of money) at that time earlier to that I did a bachelor's (Non CS) without gaining any knowledge of anything.
My basics are not that good, In college my only focus was to get a job so I did DSA and some front-end development using ReactJS(projects mostly code along with ytube) to be able to grab a good placement.

Is software engineering not for me? If no, then how do I overcome this, i don't wanna be a mediocre.

Hi all senior engineer

I am also an engineer with just 2 years of experience. Recently joined startup and getting so damn tight deadline. The project I'm working on is relatively small but there are so many states update and too frequently.
They don't have any low level design or high level design or any data pipeline or message broker service. Just figma arts which I'm suppose to implement but the state functionality is complex and not able to deliver within time.

What should I do?

Please advise me if you are seeing this doesn't matter good or bad.

I'm good at all the things (I'll say better but I lost my confidence after the incident ) I'm doing but not able to get all functionality done on time. From data science team all API's ready. So please suggest me some idea with your experience.

Hello guys, I am fresher in this corporate world and a question is stuck in my mind. What if I got some task and I spent numerous hours still not able to complete it then what should I do ??

What if I am not Able to do a task

feeling like I am literally in the worst phase of my life. Our company is taking ownership of an abroad project and those abroad folks are not supportive or even if they support us then they give little information so that we can't take ownership. so we freshers have to figure out everything, and now even after figuring out, my manager and higher management asks me anything with respect to the product(features, deployment, anything literally- it's a big & complex project) even though I am a fresher and don't even have the proper knowledge and then ask us to explain to them what we know, and it's literally frustrating to explain to every single guy every single time. Because the manager asks to prepare to explain to him and then to the higher manager and then whenever something is there they keep asking again and again to give a presentation or our ideas about it, but they don't even ask abroad folks when they are the one who is doing the work. I just feel like I can't keep up with this and I want to resign. How to say no to the manager for doing a particular work again and again or should I resign because I am feeling very low right now and still after 1 year it looks like I have wasted the time because I got to write code for maybe 5% and 90-95% feels like college presentation. Every time there's something and they ask the same thing 3-4 times, sometimes it would be give the x info or then y info and like this only  and because of that i can't do the real work or work on new features because the Indian manager and higher officials keep giving extra work which they should ask from US folks. What should I do please suggest

I am a Software Engineer with 6 years of work experience. Currently working for a US based startup. Previously I have worked for Amazon and a couple of Indian startups.

My current org is remote and I am working from my hometown. It's super chill in this company and work is only to build CRUD and APIs. I feel too stagnant here, my manager is also super chill and is in retirement mode. I feel this will message my future.

I joined this company so I can work on my start up but haven't been very active there too.

Recently a Google recruiter contacted me for a L4 role and had the recruiter screen and he scheduled the interview for the next month.
Google base monthly salary for L4 is way below my current since it's a US based startup. But with RSUs Google annual CTC his higher.

I am confused whether to continue in my org and focus back on startup or start preparing for Google interview. In the long term I want to start my company. At the same time Google will offer an AI ecosystem and resources that will help my startup.

Please share your views.

I'm 2023 btech grad, I have selected in virtusa, LTIMindtree and dxc but none of them are giving response to full time. They are just delaying the process. 
I'm worried about my future, and confused what to do, so that I land a job. 
I have knowledge of core java, sql, basic dsa(leetcode 150+) and very basic project(that  don't come in mini project category). 

What to do? ... should I prepare dsa or do backend in java? ... or just wait for the on boarding

I’m currently working in a support project and whatever I heard from my seniors and fellow guys at work is that nobody stays with this client and company for more than a year or two. I joined here as a fresher with some really good dev skills but the work and tech here is not allowing me to put them to use. I’m feeling like quitting from here, but again need to brush up my skills as I did not put them to use over a period of 14 months. Also there is a lot of micromanagement going on and I’m not comfortable with that. No one takes ownership of work and tries to push it to you and make you work on it.
