Give the info and move on. Don't be insecure. No company wants insecure employees.

Won't you get low balled by sharing that info?

That depends on your interview performance and how "badly they want you".

Company have no motivation to low ball someone because if you leave with dissatisfaction immediately after joining they have to redo the hiring process which is expensive.

So try to optimise to be "want-able".

Normalise discussing salaries openly at workplace and outside.

No employer will treat it as red flag, it's a green flag that employees are concerned about wealth making and will do whatever it takes. This benefits the company in long run and every founder knows it.

Plus you will grow too.

It's written in the company policies not to discuss salaries. Although people do :)

My existing employer treated it as a red flag and had a talk with me.

Everybody wants to make money! But yes all those who benefit the company more will get more benefitted and I think that's fair.

Ask the budget they have for the role you’re interviewing before revealing your current ctc

Not all HRs will reveal the same stating that it's confidential and won't proceed further until you tell them your current CTC. Else they say the budget is open!
