I left earlier previous company due to I want to gain more experience in new technology and get some hands in development. During that period also they tried to retain but more than package I concentrated to gain more hands in Development. Now once again I'm not happy with my current company which is accenture, as so much politics, upon being so much dedication didn't receive any hike or promotion since 2.5 years , so I'm getting again opportunity to work in my previous company. Hocco, an Ahmedabad-based ice cream brand, has raised INR 100 Cr ($12 Mn) in a fresh funding round. The round was led by the company's promoter group, the Chona family, as well as existing investor Sauce VC. Angel investors like Bollywood producers Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar also participated in the round.

This primary capital infusion has valued Hocco at INR 600 Cr ($72 Mn) post-investment. The company plans to use these funds to expand its manufacturing capacity. Hocco's managing director, Ankit Chona, stated that the 8-month-old brand expects to reach INR 200 Cr ($24 Mn) in revenue by the fiscal year ending March 2025.

But here's the scoop: Hocco isn't just another startup. It's the Chona family's second ice cream act. In 2017, they sold their legacy brand Havmor to South Korean giant Lotte for ₹1,020 crore. Now, with Hocco targeting ₹200 crore revenue by 2025, they're proving you can have your ice cream and sell it too.

Cult fit, a leading Indian fitness company, is undergoing a strategic shift to focus on its e-commerce vertical, Cultsport, as a key driver of growth and profitability. According to the company's new CEO Naresh Krishnaswamy, Cultsport currently accounts for 30% of Cult fit's total revenue, but is expected to grow to 50% of revenue within the next 2-3 years.

This shift is driven by the strong brand credibility of Cult fit, which is helping the company rapidly expand its online fitness equipment and apparel business. Cultsport's hardline category, which includes products like treadmills, spin bikes and outdoor cycles, is a particularly strong performer, expected to grow 40-50% year-over-year.

While Cult fit's core gym business remains the largest revenue contributor at over 64% in FY23, the company is betting big on Cultsport to achieve full-year EBITDA profitability within a year. This strategic pivot comes as Cult fit has managed to significantly reduce its losses by 20% in FY23 compared to the previous year, even as its overall revenues tripled.

The company's focus on profitability is further underscored by its recent cost-cutting measures, including layoffs of around 120 employees. Cult fit is also working towards a public listing, as it looks to capitalize on the growing demand for organized fitness chains in the Indian market.

Paisabazaar, the credit marketplace owned by PB Fintech, is facing a major business model shift. Traditionally, Paisabazaar has focused on sourcing unsecured loan leads like credit cards and personal loans for its 70+ lending partners. This model has been highly profitable, contributing 95% of Paisabazaar's revenue and helping PB Fintech achieve its first annual profit.

However, the Reserve Bank of India has now discouraged lenders from offering small-ticket, collateral-free loans. As a result, Paisabazaar's lending partners have started moving away from unsecured loan leads, hampering the fintech's growth. To avoid further deceleration and regulatory scrutiny, Paisabazaar is now pivoting towards secured loans like home loans and loans against property.

This shift poses several challenges for Paisabazaar:
- 🏛️ Branch vs. Browser: Home loan hunters love the personal touch of bank branches. Can PaisaBazaar's algorithms charm them online?

Recently we heard it on the Grapevine that Amazon is acquiring MX Player. Well, it turns out Amazon's not buying MX Player; it's cherry-picking its crown jewels. The e-commerce titan is snapping up select assets of the Times Internet-owned video streamer in what's whispered as a $50 million "distress sale."

This isn't a merger; it's media surgery. Amazon's scalpel is aimed at MX's content library, tech, and user base, leaving the corporate liabilities on the operating table. It's a power move to juice up Prime Video and miniTV in India's cutthroat streaming wars.

The deal includes MX's brain trust, with CEO Karan Bedi and team joining Amazon's ranks. But the real prize? Content, not control.

Welcome to Business Roles's Private Community

Context: 10.5 YOE, Marketing lead. I've been looking for a switch since September last year. I'd seen signs of maybe my role or the company itself folding very early and knew 'twas time to bolt. But it's not that easy. Back then - 1 year in a startup meant hey not bad, people still spoke to you and considered your profile. These days, they treat you like Ebola if you've not had your ass stuck in the same place for 3-5 years. 

Anyway, so the majority of my time searching for jobs was the shitty Easy Apply or IIMJOBS premium account route. Suprise suprise. It doesn't work. But hey I was still employed and not nearly as motivated as someone who's unemployed. 

Cut to layoffs: Got laid off with my whole team and a huge chunk of other leaders. My first layoff, felt hilariously like the last day of school. To the org's credit they gave us 3 month severance, leave encashments and extra months for those who'd been there for 2 years+. In hindsight hearing the horror stories of 2k severance from Byju's. I'm grateful for the nice golden parachute I got. I'll be honest, it contributed heavily to my mental stability. I had time, I had leverage, I didn't have to run for the first shitty opportunity that came my way. 

The How I did it (why you struggled through the above stream of consciousness) 

- Wrote to 159 founders with one pagers to 35 of them with ideas on how i'd lead their marketing function. 5 replies. 3 interviews. 2 offers - didn't take em cuz they were super early stage or diff cities. This is immediately in month 1 so I've already started feeling icky about not getting great brands to have in my set. 
- Easy Applied to 768 (I ran a Gmail search, this is a real number) jobs. 99% no responses or you've been rejected. 
-Kept changing one letter on my Naukri.com profile, got me 6 calls, 3 interviews and 1 conversion

Finally got a job (here's the do's and dont's)

 - Add HRs and hiring managers on LinkedIn, send them free ideas and strategies. Its ok if they steal them it meant they were great. One of them will refer you, remember you or hire you. 
 - Have a CV and a summary (half a page) that gets people excited about wanting to read the CV. Only areas of expertise and bullet points for results  
 - Don't put the OpentoWork filter on your LinkedIn DP. Its radioactive. I know people actively avoid those profiles. But make sure to keep open to work beacon on for recruiters. It pushes you ahead  
 - Dont post low effort i need a job because im laid off, i dont have money, copy pasted by millions on Linkedin. If you're gonna publically ask for a job, make sure that post has enuff of your skillset screaming for a potential hirer to want to explore more. Else you'll get velle gadhe typing CFBR 
 - Dont be anal or choosy about interviewing, i literally gave 35-50 in 3 months that culminated in 4 offers. Each one taught me something, heck ive spoken to startups with 7 peeps in it  
 - The only one that can negotiate CTC is the one that can walk away. When the offer i wanted finally came, my fixed went down a tad, but variable increased. The role was worth it so i didnt bother negotiating. Places i wasnt excited about - oh i quoted 30% hikes and got it at one place :p

Brand Marketing Manager

Specifically a question to all the t1 tech clg grads (mainly software engineers) earning 1l+ pm out of clg with a lot of scope for growth. Post mba avg salary is 1.5l per month. 

I can understand ppl desperate for a career change and non tech ppl who are underpaid and don't really have ab option but it baffles me why well paid folks would shell out 30lakhs kr take the burden of loan just to learn how to appear smarter than you actually are instead of investing it for a meagre salary increase that can be achieved by job switches.

I'd love to  hear any insights about ppl who've already been in the space. Why u did, salary PRE post sector etc

Why the heck do people do an MBA?

I can share, I was working abroad post my T1 engineering. So you can imagine it must be > 1L.  
  
 Like all those confused 20+ engineers, I asked one of my skip levels that how should one plan the career path. He gave me a simple framework, “Look at your boss or bosses boss. If you are ok living that life, you’re on the right path else time to think more”.  
  
 I got my answers, maybe try finding yours rather than seeking majority “votes” :)
