Should we go to USA for better life?? Even if we have job in india with 25LPA.

Which country is best to work as a software developer. I am an SDE 1 in India planning to go abroad.

So my sibling is about to graduate with a degree in Computer Science from a T2 college in a few months and wants to now do MS in the US because of three reasons: 1. Low levels of violence against women(Sexual Assault) [IMPORTANT!!] 2. Want to do innovative work in the US instead of working on copycat products in India 3. Ambition of living in the US long term because of free-er culture But my parents have flat out refused to fund the education or even help her with a loan due to regressive mentality (nahi jaana baahar, 2-3 saal kaam karo aur shaadi karo chup chaap) She has accepted a job offer for now and will make 14L/year. What are her options? Should she drop the idea of MS abroad?

I love to read about tech and how startups evolved. Have spent a lot of time figuring out how the good product companies in the US got built: Google, FB, Instagram, Snap, Pinterest etc. etc. One thing stands out: A lot of these started out as just projects, and not a real startup. Instagram was just an idea to make photo filtering better. Reddit was just a project around making a cooler internet. They set off as projects, and got some traction before becoming funded startups. Because they had devs in the founding team, who were always doing projects as side hustles. This wasn't the time when SDE salaries were so pumped up, they didn't want to just become good devs, they probably wanted to solve real problems. My takeaway: Maybe Engineers shouldn’t be too incentivised to just code. They should be incentivised to think business. Thats how FB, Google, Insta etc happened as companies. In India, high pay endears engineers to stick to coding, do less business thinking. That’s why we don’t see too many coders posting their side projects on X, Reddit, GV within India. Maybe there just aren’t enough. Have just been thinking about this. Open to thoughts from the community - maybe my view is limited. Would love to hear.

I am a social media lead with 5 years of experience at a profitable healthtech in Bangalore. My manager has assured me that he’ll train me and I’ll be promoted to a marketing manager in a year’s time. Would it make sense for me to move to Germany for an MBA and settle there at this stage? Or am I better off working in India? Need advise purely from a holistic growth POV.

I was curious, that what will happen to the people who are right now working in growth, program managers, or in fact as business analysts, SDEs after 15 years. I am 25 Years old right now, and all I can see is people aged between 21-30 in startups. 30-35 year old people are less than 5% of the workforce. After 10 years, all my age group people will be 35, and all the roles I see at that age, are too scarce. Will it be too difficult to switch jobs then, or career, hikes will kinda stagnate there? Want to know from other experienced people that where does the crowd go?

Hi Grapevine, Just curious to know your thoughts of going to the US/EU as an SDE during the early age of your career. Maybe not now but within 1 year. Pure motivation is money and will definitely come back to India in a couple of years . TC - 18 lpa YOE - 1.7
