SWE intern Cisco Meraki

Completed 3 years at Cisco this month as a Hardware Engineer, joined straight out of a tier-2 college in 2021. Over my 3 years, what I've learnt is that Cisco is just riding on the monopoly it has in the networking space. There's basically no innovation when it comes to Router hardware, and we basically reuse existing designs, packaging them as "newer and better" products. No risk, no Ishq 🙁 There's absolutely zero investment in R&D, and any new feature that gets added to the products only comes in after one of the competitors launches them, keeping Cisco behind in the game. If Cisco keeps going like this, I'm sure the likes of Arista and Juniper will over us in the next couple of years, even with the new "Silicon One" that Cisco's promoting. PS: I can only speak from a Hardware PoV, and I'm not quite updated with what's going on with Cisco's SW offerings.

Does any one work for startup’s which are not based in India? What should be the ideal compensation expectation in such cases. Is it fair to ask for a salary equivalent to that of an US software dev if the startup is based in the US?

Anyone know how's the work culture at Palo Alto Networks Bangalore? Also, have they done layoffs in the past? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have recently left Cisco. This post is a rant on how i feel while leaving I worked at CCBU. A department which is filled with incompetent dev and even more incompetent managers. Not surprisingly all employee were Wipro contractors who became full time due to sheer amount of time spent. Managers expect you to lick their ass to get promoted. Since i am non ass licker employee, i was never in his good books. While resigning my manager threatened that he will extend my notice period and gave me tasks to finish off if I "ever" wanted to leave I feel very happy leaving such shitty place. I wish never to return here again. At my tenure my growth has been negative, and I became lazy. Now trying to get out of this lazy zone in my next company Ps- I know there are good parts of Cisco as well. I just happened to be in the wrong part. This post is me venting out about my experiences. This is just personal opinion
