There are many polls going on around the salary structure, whether a person is under-compensated or over-compensated. A few things which I have experienced regarding salary.
 
1. Don't compare the out of the organization salary with that of inside the organization salary. It never matches and will never be.
2.Don't compare product based company salaries with service based companies.
3. The people having trending/on-demand skills(new skills in the market) will get paid more than the pre-existing ones.
4. Post graduate degree in any other discipline apart from CSE, IT and MBA are not considered relevant in every company. Very few companies might think about it.
5. Years of experience(YOE) do play a role in salary hike while making a move to a new company, but most of the MNC's have a cap for a particular level(role). It depends upon the negotiation skills of the individual to squeeze out every penny from the company.

Recently being seen a bunch of people here taking a dig on people with high salaries. This is so counter productive. Rather than trying to learn from people who’ve been able to get a head start and getting it for yourself why are you resorting to hating on them? 

This is what is the difference between India and the west. The west is so fu##in capitalistic that people just understand and respect those that have money and everyone else is working hard to make it too. 

Don’t hate the race. Don’t hate the winners. We can all win. Help each other.

 It's stupid race. Let me give you a broader perspective on why a decently paid individual can make it up with consistency within 10 years. 
  
 The inflated package you got will also result in 
   
 Increased risk of layoff 
 Increased rent based on location 
 Increased additional expenses 
 Increased health problems because of stress 
 Decreased family time 
 Confusion in priorities 
  
  
 Since you got money early in life, congrats but what on earth will you buy once you have it all? 
 By 50 you'll be left with minimum wishes you can wish for. 
  
 These are just a few of the common things...  
  
 No hate but everyone should work on their pace once they get a decent salary.

I really don't like the practice of sharing current CTC. Not only it ties your future income to your current income but it also traps you into a vicious cycle of justifying your hikes.

I've been looking for a job for the past 4 months. Recruiters usually drop my application because I don't share the current CTC. Recruiters that do entertain my application, tend to ghost me after I clear the interview.

I don't want to compromise on my principle. What shall I do?

Confused Between Principle & Practice

I am thinking of leaving my current job and focus on myself, getting to know myself better etc. Currently I have enough money saved for my expenses for next 6-8 months. 
   Everyone I have asked about this say don't leave your job if you don't have another lined up, in this tech winter. I understand their view point. It aligns with what my parents think as well.

Is there anyone who has had done this in the past? Do you recommend this route? Are the consequences far too severe? Does anyone have a different opinion from one stated above?

Anyone ever left job without having another job lying around for their mental peace?

I'm in the same boat, on the verge of quitting, and will most probably take the leap next month.

One of my friends posted a job in our batch group but posted that 'this might be suitable for junior folks as salary is low'. Out of curiosity, I asked the salary in DM and the salary was more than what I was earning. So this puts me in a self degrading situation and hence I want to know the salary of fellow 2017 MBA grads.

No hate but this is one of the worst things to do for one's mental peace, so many people will have FOMO because of this, including you.  
  
 I know people who stopped participating on Fishbowl because of this, with techies always asking about salaries, investments and what not. 
  
 If your salary is good enough for you, why worry about what others are earning, buddy.  
  
 I once heard a school senior speak on the topic "Why is his shirt whiter than mine?" for an extempore speech and I can't help but recall what they said - Be it anywhere, someone's shirt will always be whiter than yours. The question is, if your shirt is reasonably white and you and those close to you appreciate you while wearing it, does it matter what others are wearing?

I could really use some advice from the more experienced professionals here. I’m currently a Technology Consultant at PwC with 1 year of experience, primarily working on AWS Infrastructure end-to-end. I enjoy solving complex problems and am now considering my next career move. The paths I'm exploring include AWS infrastructure roles, data engineering, or AWS DevOps.

Given the current job market, making a decision feels quite challenging, and compensation is also an important factor for me. Any insights or guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Hiring for a bunch of roles for an early stage startup. Salaries of people who have been laid off is through the roof

2-3 years experience asking for 30-40l and while we chose not to judge the experience and spoke to a few of them, most of them are not even worth half of the pay. 

Many are jobless since last 2-3 months and none of them are willing to take a paycut of even 5-6L and are willing to stay jobless ( probably have a ton of savings )

Market correction is necessary.

What's wrong with salaries

If you are paid less, don’t extrapolate it on others. If they are willing to wait, let them. You should keep praying for “corrections”.

When negotiating salary in Big 4 firms (Deloitte, EY, KPMG, PwC), research the market rate for your role and industry. Know your worth and be confident. Start with a slightly higher target salary than your desired amount, as this gives room for negotiation. Emphasize your skills, experience, and achievements. Be flexible and open to creative solutions, like additional benefits or a performance-based raise. Be professional and respectful, and be prepared to explain your request. Remember, negotiation is a conversation, not a confrontation. Good luck!
