Sde to PM. Regrets

Leads for PM intern or APM would be appreciated ( I am based out of Bangalore and my work experience is approx 2 years as a developer, now i am looking for transition ) .

So I started PMing a year back, 25y atm. Joined as APM right out of college. Sometimes I feel I should've done some adjacent role which would could've helped me in understanding how the industry works. Most of the times I work on feature mindlessly. Many times lead engineers directly come to me for ticket requirements, all though i can deal with them, from time to time i feel like an imposter.

Hi guys, I have between 5-6 years of experience in engineering role (QA/Test automation). However over these years I have found the role to be unfulfilling due to the growth, impact and visibility. I have been considering going for a full time executive MBA (In India/Abroad) to switch into a PM/Strategy role. Wanted to understand if this is going to be really worth it, considering I will have high chances to start again at an entry level position? Or is this common to do post MBA?

Hi folks, looking seriously for a job switch as a PM primarily in the fintech space. Highlights about myself: -> I have ~ 3.5 years of work ex. -> Entrepreneurial stint in the wealth management space where we were trying to build an AI assistant to automate everyone' s personal finance. -> MBA From ISB post closing the startup due to regulatory slowdown -> Wanted to get a PM role in the campus placement but, due to market conditions, got a job as program manager in a lending startup. I had high hopes from it but it turned out to be utter disappointment on many levels. I know the market is not great right now but I am optimistic that it's not that bad. Any help or referral would be really appreciated :)

Hi folks, I work at a startup (been 2 years now) as a PM. From the last 12 months, my work has mostly revolved around strategy, business intelligence, program/general mgmt. I am now planning to quit and move on. However, I am not sure if I want to continue being a PM, because it's very overwhelming honestly and I actually enjoyed the last 12 months as a generalist. Need career advice from fellow PMs whether to pursue program mgmt/strategy/general mgmt/Chief of staff/new initiatives roles or devote 100% of my time to prepare for PM interviews and also try to make up for the last 12 months by doing side projects and maybe even interning under a senior PM Some pointers about me: 1. I have 2 YoE in PM. 2. I have a CS degree from a tier 1/2 college 3. There is no particular reason to quit. Job is chill

Indian. I am a SDE (backend) currently. ~2 yrs exp. 16 LPA and I work 40-50 hrs a week. I like where I am, but I am not feeling the zeal for tech anymore. Probably will do a MBA down the line (thinking abroad, not sure) Looking for equal or greater pay, similar WLB, new domain. Should I switch to PM and try a hand at it? Am I aware of the reality or living in my own isolated reality?

Hi All, I'm working as a PM in a private bank. Prior to this I had worked as a Business PM in another bank 😅 My experience is that work expectations, KRAs of bank PMs are not in line with what is standard. Mostly stuck with meaningless work, getting very few conceptual projects. Feel like I am a glorified BA, who receives additional shit shovelling from senior mgmt. Unable to get in depth experience in any vertical. Earning 20LPA, experience 2.8 years. Need advise should I move out of PM and target Biz roles?

I’ve been into startup product management for about more than 5 years. While the problems are interesting at times, the daily life is mentally draining. I can’t think of anything else apart from work even post working hours. Feels like there’s no life/identity apart from the work I do. I try taking time offs but it gets back to where it was in no time. I want to transition to PM roles that have better WLB. Not sure if any startup could offer that. Is a PM role at a big tech services firm less stressful - WITCH, maybe? If so, what could be the best route to get to one. At this point, I think I’m ok doing boring projects as long as I can take the work off my head after working hours and balance out a better personal life alongside.
