Total Experience: 7 years Domain: Sales Education: Tier 2 Engineering College Current TC: Rs. 60L + ESOPs (mentioning the compensation as it's relevant)
Throughout my life, I have been discriminated against due to not having a pedigree. I have had to work my ass off to reach where I am today.
Currently I'm at a senior position in a startup incubated by an MNC. I still face the following concerns:
Extreme difficulty while applying for jobs; Example: my exceptional performance in my previous organisation was not known outside and since I didn't have any "pedigree", I was considered overpaid in the job market.
I did join at a decent hike after an year of search and even in the new company, I don't command a lot of respect due to the lack of fancy tags like IIT/IIM/ISB/Booth/LSB/Insead,etc.
What should I do? Does an MBA make any financial sense to me at this Experience and Compensation? If yes, where should I try for an MBA?
I feel the same, have been facing point 1 and point 2 lately,

Companies reach out and even when I demand a general 30 - 40 percent which is considered norm with majority of HRs, they are all like "no this is beyond levels "
I genuinely want to know, does math changes when you reach 50lpa
Where is the norm now, is the norm only for 3lpa guys so that you can loot them once again?
Sometimes I feel I should have emigrated.

Are you in tech/business roles?
In business and operations roles, beyond 40-45L CTC, job shift hikes are usually in the 25-30% range unless exception.
As an exception, this wouldn't have be the case in 2020-21 in edtech
If you can spare the kind of budget,why don't you go for an ISB executive course. You would get the knowledge, pedigree and alumni network..... "Peace of mind"
Another amusing post where a person earns more than enough but is still finding a means to feel lesser. If you’re finding connections to pedigree yourself, I can imagine you’re unknowingly seeking that path. Otherwise stop making such derivations even if it were really true… lots more in life to focus on
The salary became this after years of struggle through 18-20 hour work days. I understand that compensation is not everything.

I don't think this is true. After certain years in the industry college is way less relevant than skill level.

All that degree doesn't matter stuff is for linkedin and twitter to gain likes and clout.

Pick an executive mba. Tag comes along. Salary stays with you.
Even if you do MBA from premier colleges, it will almost be impossible for you to get a package higher than your current package. Average package at IIMs is less than half of your current salary
Do an MBA if you feel it truly rounds your profile for future prospects, and you're able to get compensated in your desired range post that.
In India, ISB is perhaps the only B-school that fits the bill. I hope I'm not wrong.

Do an executive MBA from IIM or ISB. You might or might not get a job with that salary after a 1-2 year break.
