Should I do an MBA?

It's slightly long - It would be great if you could guide me! Total Experience: 7 years Domain: Sales Education: Tier 2 Engineering College Current TC: Rs. 60L + ESOPs (mentioning the compensation as it's relevant) Throughout my life, I have been discriminated against due to not having a pedigree. I have had to work my ass off to reach where I am today. Currently I'm at a senior position in a startup incubated by an MNC. I still face the following concerns: 1. Extreme difficulty while applying for jobs; Example: my exceptional performance in my previous organisation was not known outside and since I didn't have any "pedigree", I was considered overpaid in the job market. 2. I did join at a decent hike after an year of search and even in the new company, I don't command a lot of respect due to the lack of fancy tags like IIT/IIM/ISB/Booth/LSB/Insead,etc. What should I do? Does an MBA make any financial sense to me at this Experience and Compensation? If yes, where should I try for an MBA?

If you can spare the kind of budget,why don't you go for an ISB executive course. You would get the knowledge, pedigree and alumni network..... "Peace of mind"

I feel the same, have been facing point 1 and point 2 lately, On the same boat Total exp - 5 years Comp - 40lakhs + 12 lakh stock Companies reach out and even when I demand a general 30 - 40 percent which is considered norm with majority of HRs, they are all like "no this is beyond levels " I genuinely want to know, does math changes when you reach 50lpa Where is the norm now, is the norm only for 3lpa guys so that you can loot them once again? Sometimes I feel I should have emigrated.

Are you in tech/business roles? In business and operations roles, beyond 40-45L CTC, job shift hikes are usually in the 25-30% range unless exception. As an exception, this wouldn't have be the case in 2020-21 in edtech

Another amusing post where a person earns more than enough but is still finding a means to feel lesser. If you’re finding connections to pedigree yourself, I can imagine you’re unknowingly seeking that path. Otherwise stop making such derivations even if it were really true… lots more in life to focus on

The salary became this after years of struggle through 18-20 hour work days. I understand that compensation is not everything. This question came on pedigree came up as it took me 1-1.5 years to get a relevant and decent role even with my good performances. I do not feel like I'm lesser.

No dude, this is true people and companies still discriminate on the basis of college, All that degree doesn't matter stuff is for linkedin and twitter to gain likes and clout. In reality management will think 27980 times before giving me a hike of 40percent whereas the starting point of negotiation for iit /iim grads is 60L have seen this a lot

Even if you do MBA from premier colleges, it will almost be impossible for you to get a package higher than your current package. Average package at IIMs is less than half of your current salary

Do an MBA if you feel it truly rounds your profile for future prospects, and you're able to get compensated in your desired range post that. In India, ISB is perhaps the only B-school that fits the bill. I hope I'm not wrong.

Should I go for MBA in top 10 b schools india like IIMs, XLRI, SPJAIN, etc So a little background about myself. I graduated in 2023 from a tier college and managed to get an off-campus job in an investment bank as an SDE. My current salary is 24LPA. Would it be beneficial for me to do MBA from the above mentioned colleges Like would the placements there be better than what I have currently? Also if I can save enough money in 2 years would a MBA in US in a top 20 uni be better than MBA in IIM? I will be going for further studies sometime in 2025 or 2026. My main goal is to improve my salary and build a network. I have also managed my own dev agency and did freelance projects in the past 4 years. If anybody has gone through the same please let me know your experience. This also applies to MTech/MS as well Thank you.

Earning 2x of a Tier-1 MBA grad already. Should I still do an MBA?

I am probably earning 2x of what an average T-1 MBA grad makes in India. I'm just not happy in my role and this SDE grind caught me lackin'. Is getting into IIM to get into PM role justified?

What is the future scope of the PM job role...will it still be relevant after 10 years, Is going to IIMs spending close to 25 lakhs in this economy to get into a PM job role justified?? Context: I know many people will say you don't need IIM to break into PM, But considering I'm a 25 Male, from tier 3 college...currently working as a product designer with 8 lpa...so I think the only way to reach 25-30 lpa in hand by 28 is by joining IIMs

I did an MBA in 2009 from a tier 2 college. worked in startups and established companies in marketing and communications roles. now hit a wall in terms of pay, growth and future prospects... thinking of doing a second mba or a data science course. what do u guys think... other info: I'm 39 years , and can't afford to stop working beyond a year.
