Hi Team,
I am currently working in IT and was working in the BFSI sector. With time I have developed interest in Finance. Need suggestions on how to switch from IT to Finance.
Any one who has experienced the same process please comment.
Finance is a very generic term. Within Finance, there are multiple domains. The problem is each domain is controlled by a cartel. You want to get in treasury or P&l management? your career will be restricted unless you have a T1 MBA -like IIM or ISB.. You want to get into controlling or Tax, then you need a CA. Without this, one can only be in accounting , pass invoices, chase up payments, and other clerical stuff. If you ask an HR, they will tell you that that job requires in-depth knowledge. Its a clerical job that a monkey can do.
More like a Financial and risk analyst, or Portfolio Management etc
i get you... in Accenture there are roles called 'R&R"... those are the clerical roles of finance. has no value addition. The risk/ financial analyst roles are interesting in consulting. Dominated by T1 people. Think of it like this, - Any drivers license is not enough to drive a F1/F3 car. There is no fun when ones job is to clean the car. Am not belittling that job, if it pays, its good to do. But you cant expect to be promoted to the drivers role, staring as a cleaner.
