Swiggy FEE Mafia
Swiggy is slowly becoming unusable. They have already increased minimum amount in Instamart for free delivery from 99 to 149 to 199 now. This is really becoming a problem. Is there any other alternative to this? They are slowly showing their true colours now that they are aiming profitability.
Yeah. But that's the price you'll have to pay for convenience. They were always gonna start making money one day
How else will the biz make sense 😅 not supporting them but essentially this is the price of running a delivery biz
They were selling convenience to users. This is becoming extremely inconvenient now.

Well actually, it's still convenient, it's just that it's expensive now. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

OP wants convenience
OP wants to order from platforms
OP does not want to pay the fees the platform is charging for their services
OP is mad that a company is trying to be profitable and make money instead of doing public seva
OP, neeche jaake leke aa na saman bhai. Why did you even look at Swiggy Instamart?
Swiggy is increasing their prices based on knowing what consumers are willing to pay according to their data. They wouldn’t do it haphazardly.
When users have a problem with something, they stop using it. The people that don’t have a problem with the minimum orders and barges etc will not stop using it.

Nahi bro, tu lagale. I have no problem paying fees for convenience when/if I order on platforms. I don’t complain about it on anonymous platforms blaming companies for trying to be profitable.
If you don’t want to pay the fee simply walk down or find alternatives.

Bruh ordering a 50 rs item on Swiggy that too in rain and asking why is Swiggy charging me so much
So? I paid for Swiggyone membership for the exact same thing. Why is it wrong to expect it then?

"true colors", "mafia", "99 to 149 to 199" "they don't want to lose money"
When will people stop feeling entitled to "free"?
Nobody is asking for free. I took a swiggyone membership for a year paying 699 or something.

Somebody is butthurt. That's it. Esp because the supermarket is "50m" from your place.

If you don't have Swiggy One, no point using Swiggy.
My subscription ended last week, it was charging 186 rs for delivery where zomato was asking 36rs (1.2km restaurant)
I have swiggy one, I am seeing the minimum amount as 199 even after having swiggy one

What do you mean by showing their true colour? We live is a capitalist world. When Swiggy was burning money and giving free deliveries you were happy.
It was a choice to use then and it's a choice now. Systems don't according to your convenience mate.
It is not according to my convenience mate. I paid for the bloody swiggyone membership. Swiggy isn't doing a favour on me by giving deliveries.
Did we ask swiggy to give free deliveries initially, they want to create a user base and addicting and now once people habituated now they are looting money in the lot of fees, rain fees, delivery fee, platform fee, convinence fee, handling fee, small cart fee. Now swiggy setting the rules, they don't know the India market is different if they charge more they lose more users and will be left with only premium users.

OP thinks he’s a board member of Swiggy after paying them 699rs for a year.
Stop expecting companies to take losses for your sake. If your order value isn’t 199+, go downstairs and buy it.

Why on earth are you even expecting free deliveries for something that costs so less? Unit economics will not hold irrespective of it being a dark store closer to your house.
Swiggy clearly days free delivery only on orders above 199 when taking subscription. Didn't you see that when buying subscription?
They cant keep giving you free delivery for 1 rupee eclairs orders. They need a minimum order amount to make the delivery viable.
Swiggy is upfront about this minimum amount. I don't know why you are complaining. Do you expect swiggy to run in losses like a charity?
Haven't you read my post? I have clearly mentioned that they increased it. When I bought the subscription it was 99 about 7-8 months ago, then they increased to 149 and now 199. Where are you seeing 1 rupee eclairs?
1 rupee 50 rupee doesn't matter. Below a threshold it doesn't make sense to deliver the order. Swiggy will end up making a loss on the order no matter what. There is zero incentive for them to take that order. Which is why every food delivery company in the world has a minimum amount for free delivery.
So charging money for 50 rupee item is not really asshole design it's just pure financial sense.
Till now VC subsidised your orders, looks like they decided to stop. There is no "true colors", it's simply trying to make a business profitable.

Somebody noticed something, they shared it here! Why are we calling it "cribbing" or "what else can you expect"? Even if we expected it, we may not have realised "now" is the inflection point. IMO this is news worthy nevertheless.
Your cart value is 50rs. Make it make sense. Why on earth would another human being get on a motorcycle to deliver something to you at face value? The people most affected here are the delivery riders, who make way below the bare minimum when such orders come up.
Best is to buy items from DMart or Amazon Fresh in advance. You will get huge discounts. I have been using either Amazon Fresh or DMart to buy my monthly grocery items for the last 10 years. Mostly, it’s been DMart. The grocery discounts are amazing. This also helps out in budgeting.
We use Swiggy or Zomato just for food deliveries, and Blinkit for emergency usage.
Too much dependence on apps will burn your pocket.
Absolutely concur that Dmart gives huge discount but it's really far from my place. Need to plan a visit if I go there. Amazon fresh seems a good idea
Utilising Amazon Fresh can be a good option. Also offer same day delivery sometimes. But, I would suggest you to not buy vegetables or fruits and stick to grocery items.
It’s best to buy vegetables or fruits from your nearby store(and in morning). Our nearby supermarket opens at 9 and has their deliveries coming at around that time. I buy fresh vegetables and fruits from them between 10 and 11.(less rush plus totally fresh items).
You can checkout the delivery timings for your nearby vegetable & fruits vendor/supermarket and buy fresh items. For that matter, the likes of BB Daily, Country Delight’s quality is worse.

I don't understand what exactly people want Swiggy to do, they can't provide you service for free and then offer discounts on top of it. They can't keep burning vc money.
I took swiggyone membership for the same reason. Then what do you expect us to do? Pay for the membership and then pay through the nose for each order?
I want swiggy to _stop_ the nonsense of "Capture the market by subsidising and consuming VC money" and one competition is dead, "slowly increasing prices".
Charge me what you want in the first place.
For that to happen, we need to have enough startups to suck all the VC money into the consumers. Again, for that to happen, we need to promote this kind of news so that someone in this forum can convince some VC to start a new Swiggy.

When the market becomes duopoly, things like this will happen....We have seen this already in cab rides.... Ola and Uber are expensive compared to few years ago.
Now, this happens with food delivery.
They are just making us use these services and getting us used to the convenience they bring. Slowly they are charging for the conv and making us pay for it.
Same will happen in Pay with EMIs on eCommerce websites. Few years back, 0 interest EMIs are there. Now, 0 interest EMIs are not there mostly. But, people are buying even on EMIs though it's costly because of the convenience and the banks are making money out of it which was their plan from starting.
General pattern: Give discounts with convenience > Make people use it because it's discounted and convenient > Remove discount > Ask extra to pay for convenience
Eventually quick commerce might just be useful for emergencies or last minute needs. Scheduled grocery deliveries on Amazon are heavily discounted, even better if you have an Amazon Pay ICICI credit card. Or just a walk to the supermarket.
