[Thread] Extreme fire and ensuing destruction at Mudpipe, Hosur Road. Are we cutting corners on safety, in exchange of rampant development?
Although currently there are no casualties, but the clip of someone jumping off the building to save themselves still haunts me. They are currently in critical condition and I hope they recover completely. It is starting to appear that rapid growth is becoming a duel edged sword. Yesterday's incident is a stark reminder that development and safety need to go hand in hand. What is the opinion of others on the platform. There have been other fire related incidents in other metro-cities as well.

Development, in no way, requires a lack of safety. Cheap and/or quick development does.
Much of the safety measures required by regulations and OSHA are often ignored to cut corners. They're also able to get away with this due to political jack or kickbacks. There are watchdogs to prevent this but who will watch the watchdogs?

Cost cutting is India's curse. There is no value for human life. So safety is always compromised. Nothing surprising in this incident. Few years back we had belandur lake on fire. Nothing surprises me anymore in India.
Please don’t say rampant development in Bangalore. Specially in Koramangala, where a flyover work has been stalled for years now
