Today's E-lafda: Manas v/s Amul
Amul says you should interview all the time Manas says this is not smart
I agree with Manas. Manas is not against changing jobs/ interviewing/ getting rid of toxic cos/ moving out of cos which aren't growing, etc
He is pro-depth. And he is against continuous jumping just to bump up pay.
I am looking to hire 1 SPM (budget up to 55L) and 1 PM-II (budget up to 40L) in my team. Every time I ask in my groups, I am flooded with profiles. None of them cut beyond explo call. Most of these folks became PMs in ZIRP era. Have super shallow PM skills. Have <1.5yr stints across 2-3 orgs. Cannot do basic arithmetic, problem solving, cannot script/ have 0 tech aptitude, haven't touched gsheets/ excel ‐ 0 data aptitude. 🤷

It was long due…
Finally someone said the truth
Most of his tweets are utterly wrong at so many level.
And mostly hidden behind the veil of self pity.
So unfortunate that nobody is telling him the truth and he is going from bad to worst.
> Amul says you should interview all the time,
> Manas says this is not smart.
However this ladder you wish to climb,
I say you should follow your heart!

@Vindhyachal its certainly stressful, but you can’t deny that a lot of people reached very high net worth due to this.

Whats wrong in interviewing every 6 months or 1 year ?
It shows you are very short minded. Only there to bump up pay!
Nothing wrong, but not a good strategy in long run, doesn't help you to compound well

@Legend_WaitFrIt_Dary Not necessarily. It could also be done to know your market worth, so that you can justify your ask in the next appraisal.
The book ‘No Rules, Rules’ details this very well where HRs at Netflix encouraged employees to always know their worth. Because its your job to know your worth before anyone else.

Definitely not the milk company,
Btw may I get a referral in Razorpay please? 🙌🏻
@DarlesChickens Isn't he barely anonymous? He is amul badjatiya, works at Tesco
Amol.exe is a pretentious account. He is in his own world where whatever he says is right & others are idiots. Even after that, I cannot take anybody seriously who is a hard core believer of Indian astrology. Dig some of amul's tweets & you ll understand how boomer uncle level thinking he has in most of the topics.

Idk guys.
I have chatted with him and he seems cool.
I think who he preaches to, his advice is quite apt.
For someone who struggles with social interactions, isn't super extroverted, performs okay at work but isnt as confident, always faces an imposter syndrome within self. Most such people are terrified of interviews and swallow their low pay to avoid confrontation.
For that cohort, whatever he says, makes complete sense. It's exposure therapy. Keep interviewing so that you are comfortable, you get good at it, have the confidence to go and ask for the raise.
His incessant posts on twitter is also something similar. He forces a post every day to feel comfortable posting.
