Too much friendly with Colleagues

Becoming too much friendly and little close with colleagues is good or bad thing?

In my company/team most the people are from same age and mostly male. I found there is too much unnecessary discussions and arguments and worse thing is you have to respect each other.

Just curious because today my junior almost disrespected me and I was very confused how to react.

Pls don’t be too friendly with colleagues. Try to maintain a working relationship. I can tell you from my 12 years of work experience that you will hardly have colleagues who will remember you even though you might have shared great times with them.

Often times, a lot of folks take things for granted and may hurt you with/without them knowing. Better to have just a working and transactional relationship with colleagues.

Actually you are right, I am trying to learn it.

I lack in maintaining such specific relationships.

It takes time… I am still not fully able to do it.. have probably known more than 100 or even more from working for so many years. Except 2 of them, no one ever helped me. Co-incidentally both of those who helped me are from the same org. It was a very small firm, guess that bonded us.
Am still in touch with them on a regular basis.

But rest haven’t yet bothered.

Depends really. I have good friends in my team. I for one love having decent bond with my fellow team mates. It makes me wanna perform better if I know my teammates would take a bullet for me(metaphorically ofc)

That being said, if you are already friends, then the almost disrespect is something you can decide for if you define the line, else you need to question the motives
