Amazon is not good at the moment. They can layoff anytime. I was laid off by them in the past.

Recently gave amazon interviews for theirs ads team. My DSA round with LP went good and the lld and hld round also went fine as i was able to come up design in HLD covering metric’s monitoring and fail safe and in LLD i was able to cover p0 and p1 requirements. Got rejection after 4 days and recruiter said HLD and LLD rounds were not upto the mark.
Folks i wanted to check where did i made mistake?
I checked with interviewer also if he/she is fine with what i was suggesting and they were okay with it

I am currently doing my internship at Amazon which is most likely not gonna get converted to a full time offer (provided the market conditions), I have another offer from EY for the role of Technology Consultant which would mainly involve work in data analysis. I have heard that it will be very tough to come back to an sde role from a consultant role. So I am in a dilemma of what to do next?
P.S. I am more inclined towards an SDE role due to the growth it provides.

Hi all, I have around 2 years of experience, and I am getting a chance to interview with Google. I am currently working on frontend, but I want to move to backend and I have been preparing for that, but with phone screen round coming up, if I tell them I have worked on Frontend, then I will definitely be considered for frontend role and if I lie there, then I might fuck up interview if they ask backend questions, any suggestions will be appreciated. What should I be doing in this case, Thank you!

I am working as SDE 2 in Amazon, doing well for now, getting good work however i always have this feeling that one day i may end up losing job due to layoff or anything else and the thing is that in such a scenario i am not at all prepared for job change.
I never liked doing DSA or you can say i was never good at it. I did just enough to get an internship at Amazon and then got converted to full time and from there i never touched DSA again.

My question is how to get over this insecurity?

I received a call and a subsequent HRank test for this company Lytx. 

There was a DSA problem where: For a given MxN matrix containing only 1s or 0s, we had to identify the minimum number of left or right cyclical shifts required on the row for getting at least 1 column with all ones. 
Sample Input: ['1001,'0101,'0000'] 


I used chat gpt and still couldn't figure out an exact solution, leave aside solving it on my own.

Question for the community: Say they select me for a further round anyways, will the interview as well be this brutal in terms of DSA ? Are these companies expecting programming prodigies or am I just not there in terms of my problem solving journey ?

I just think we should skip DSA rounds for existing FAANG employees.

I understand the importance of DSA rounds and is pretty much required for SDE 1 roles as their major work is to code. But for higher levels, it starts becoming less and less relevant and pointless.

In most companies DSA is to understand the basics of the candidate, can they write code, explain the problem and thought process. Now most FAANG interviewers look for the same thing. Now once I have cleared one that means I have proved myself to be someone who meets the bar, doing it again is just like "Well, have you continued grinding leetcode after getting the job". You can check design competencies, problem solving in design, mentoring etc. but why ask DSA and go through that gruelling interview process.

I was laid off from Amazon in Jan ‘23. I was an SDE 1. I recently received a link of OA at Amazon again. I have 3 YOE and I am expecting a SDE 2 role. 

Given I’ve previously worked at Amazon, will my interview process and other process be the same as a normal candidate or will I get some leverage?
