Nowadays product designers are expected to do everything including research and a lot of companies (>95%) of them don't require or value researchers because they rely either on past data or competitor's data to validate their ideas. The minimum research they might need gets fulfilled by the product designers/managers. I would suggest skill up and add design to your skill list.

Sharing my perspective  
 1. Design teams are becoming smaller. There are fewer designer to take up the work load 
 2. Wrt hiring, generalists and UI designers are preferred 
 3. Larger UXR projects are not getting prioritised 
  
 Due to these reasons I think the demand for UX Researchers will be low for next few years.

What is the future scope of the PM job role...will it still be relevant after 10 years, Is going to IIMs spending close to 25 lakhs in this economy to get into a PM job role justified??
Context: I know many people will say you don't need IIM to break into PM, But considering I'm a 25 Male, from tier 3 college...currently working as a product designer with 8 lpa...so I think the only way to reach 25-30 lpa in hand by 28 is by joining IIMs

I recently had the chance to interact with a couple of product designers from the Bangalore startup scenes. The huddle also included a few who are quite active on the LinkedIn community - where they constantly talkabout craft, user empathy, design principles and what not!

But when you really listen to what they are saying - they are just all fluff and no meat. They just want to beautify things for the sake of it. There’s no depth in understanding the users.

When asked “What measures do you take to empathise with the users?”, this senior and ‘awarded’ designer casually answered - “ We just go with the VIBE!”

I MEAN, REALLY? 

Looks like the marketing effort that goes into building their social profile is all these designers care about.

The future of UXD scares me.

Expectations from the future employers

I want to move out of architecture - the work is stressful, long hours, not enough pay and the only ways to earn more and get growth is to go into construction and real estate which I'm not fond of. Is moving into design field in other sectors good? in terms of work life, pay and job market?

Hi i am b.E electrical batch, had a lot(15+) arrears. Spent 2.5 years in trying to complete. Some papers cleared(corona didn't help much).Now i don't want to waste anymore time, as i already wasted many years. I gave my max effort but didn't help.

Most of the industrial jobs require a degree or diploma in specific field. I don't have one. Spending some time in internet searching about jobs. Many iT companies(zoho upon my searching) doesn't see degree as an measurement(?). 

Now should i try to learn coding or design? 
Coding requires logical thinking and i may not be a bright person for that given my history.

Can i try ui/ux designing. Is it a stable and future proof steam? Pay is similar to what software engineers got in placements. But as I am an non degree person it may be smaller.

I worked as a developer for 8 years and in Project Management since an year. I don’t see a future in non technical Project Management role and am fascinated with the Virtual Reality as it seems to have a promising future. Can someone please suggest if Virtual Reality have a scope in future and what would be my chances of securing a job in Virtual Reality
