What kind of posts we make in this community- Grapevine

Hey Folks, 
On the onset , I would like to welcome all the new members who joined Grapevine over last few days. Grapevine is a nice platform and I really hope all of you will enjoy great conversations and viewpoint on this community .

Now to the point why gatekeeping might become essential : I heard some days back , a good man on YouTube posted a video telling his fans about this awesome community. That is why you might have seen outburst of ‘ this is a nice platform ‘ posts on Grapevine. They also thank him in the body of the post xD. Honestly , I am fed up of this non sense posts And my timeline is already cluttered due to this.

Now his followers will start highjacking the community. Right now , this being a professional platform , the posts were interactive and decent to read. Now don’t be surprised if you see posts irrelevant to the community. I remember same thing happening with r/developersIndia community some years back and right now , that sub is kinda dead and have repetitive kind of questions which can easily be found if you have taken the effort to search for the posts.

Secondly, I won’t be surprised in case their is a difference of opinion with the Guru , people or his followers will start you bashing left , right and centre. 

I know this post sounds rude and entitled since everyone should have fair opportunity in life , but definition of fair varies as well. 

I’m very interested in knowing the POV of everyone involved here - may be I am over thinking. But would appreciate your thoughts on this .

Why do people keep posting the same message again and again in various community groups in Grapevine. Recently, I opened the app and I could see the same message posted by an individual, in “Hiring”, “layoffs”, and many more. And this has been happening for a while now, and it just doesn’t make any sense.
Communities are created so that you convey your message precisely, and best part about grapevine is, the most recent ones will show on the feed, so why the desperate act of posting it everywhere??

I have been seeing this a lot here. There are hardly relevant posts here. Almost every post is just random question that OP didn't know where to put. This community is being treated as r/askReddit when actually it should be r/AMA.

Is it just me getting annoyed by this?

Why people use Ask Me Anything community as Answer My Random Question Which doesn't Belong To Any Community?

I have been following this platform since it had nearly 500 users and have been a part of its Discord community for over two years. During this time, I have gained valuable insights and developed a deep respect for the kind individuals I have encountered and the meaningful posts that have been shared.

However, I must express my concerns. I am saddened and apprehensive because I do not want this platform to become just another saturated and mainstream platform. Over the past couple of months, I have noticed an increase in posts lacking intellectual or helpful intent and any content that contributes value to the community through insightful discussions. Instead, there is an increasing trend of people engaging in random and polarized political discussions, either directly or indirectly, or simply sharing mainstream articles and seeking opinions on matters of little significance.

Therefore, I kindly request the moderators to consider the quality of the posts.

I hope that this platform does not become or shares the denominator with those which are oversaturated and mainstream, as I have high expectations for its potential.

OR IS IT JUST ATTENTION SEEKING STRATEGIES OR SIMPLY FRAUDULENT WAY FOR GETTING EMAILS???

I manage a community group for my startup. It's like a notice board where our existing and potential customers can post queries about various topics and get help from members.

I started the community to help people and also help my startup create an engaged audience apart from Instagram.

Now the problem is, my competitors as well as clients have also joined the group and are creating issues.

Clients instead of reaching out to us for queries are now posting on the group directly. Competitors also post about their products and services and are monetizing our community.

Competitors also like to be passive aggressive and are the first to jump and criticise us, while not contributing to the group at all.

Since the community is neutral ground, we are forced to put up with it (even though it is run by me and my Co-founders).

Wondering how to solve this problem while keeping everyone happy. Any suggestions or feedback from community managers would be welcome.

Hi All, 

I’ll start with ‘About Myself’ -
I have 4-years of experience working in a Fintech organisation as a Software Engineer. But .. I hate it. Early in the college itself, I identified that I’m not strong technically (coding, DSA, and all), but, I’m quite good at Consulting / Management / Leadership roles. However, as always, under the peer pressure of my friends, family, and relatives too (yup, I know what you’re thinking) .. I still opted for a Technical line of work.

I realised it early itself that in most of the organisations, DS Algorithms and all won’t be needed. I was asked to work on a specific technology as per my team’s requirements and I did the best possible. I even indulged myself into the the then hot-topic ‘Cloud Computing’. Now, I am a hard-working person and damn I impressed everyone in my team. I’ve received countless awards and appreciations, quarter by quarter. And I’m currently acting as an Unofficial Technical Lead (with just 4 years experience in an MNC) for a team of almost 40 people, helping them with their work and tasks (which I’ve mastered already). But, my own personal growth here has taken a toll as now I am no longer developing anything myself, and neither is my Unofficial role of much value when I look for opportunities elsewhere.

My personal interests are into Management / Consulting roles. I’m even planning and preparing for an MBA degree from outside India next year to pursue the same.

However, till then, my question is .. HOW DO I SWITCHOVER from this technical line of work to Consulting / business / management line of roles (considering the difficulties of me being inexperienced in that line as of today on paper .. and a shift from 4 years of Technical experience to 0 years of Consulting / Management experience should be profitable).

Open to all suggestions and arguments.

The Switchover Problem

Hi I am new to the whole process of creating a passport and want to ask how other people who may have had a use case similar to mine went ahead with getting a passport.

My use case:
I have been living on rent in Bangalore since the past 4-5 years. My family too lives on rent in Mumbai.

I mentioned this because as far as I know one needs a permanent address and address proof to submit for a passport, can someone who has dealt with a similar use case help me out please?

How can I make sure that the influencer that I'm following and consuming content of, is an expert on the topic that he's knowledge sharing on? Are there platforms for this?

Asking coz the number based metrics like follower count, likes, comments etc. can be manipulated easily and now in this AI age, even content can be. Where's the trust and authenticity?

The messaging, effort, influence and impact are the metrics I feel should drive an influencer’s social capital. Any views on this?
