I used to be a creative guy in my mid 20s. I learned to play a guitar, could sketch pretty well and also used to work out pretty regularly.
Lift has changed drastically in the last 2 years and I now find myself no time to spend on my hobbies. I tuned 30 recently and have been under slight shock that my responsibilities are bound to increase due to family and work.
I had no responsibility till now and had lived a care free life.
Now that I am engaged, I've realized that I need to dedicate my time for my family, my well being, my upskilling and also some to to evaluate my finances. This has also made me realize that I won't have enough time for my hobbies/interests. I badly want to learn to play an electric guitar and the fact that I won't have much time terrifies me as I need to make a choice of doing something that I love (learn to play a guitar) or doing something that helps me to live a life and pay off my bills which basically is my full time job.
I might have a child in another 4-5 years and the responsibility of having a child terrifies me even more. 
I don't want to make a choice between being there for my child and being there for my work.
I'm not sure if I'm over thinking or just being realistic but not having enough time for yourself due to work and family has been bothering me lately. 
I'm 30 and the fact that responsibilities are bound to increase in my life terrifies me.
Is this a common and a normal feeling or is this unnatural?

Folks who are working in your 30s, do you still find time to work on your hobbies? If yes, how are you able to manage your family life, work life, upskilling, working out and making time for your hobbies?

Something’s been on my mind over the last few months – how we tiptoe around faith like it's taboo. Never got why. GV just seemed to be the right place to talk about this since I didn't want to get gaslighted elsewhere on social media and maybe we get more perspectives here.

I grew up in a religious household, but not the stuffy, orthodox kind. My parents found joy in their beliefs without forcing them on others. Mom still joins her hands when we pass a church - it's adorable, really. We'd go to the temple a couple of times a week, and it was just... normal.

Then college hit. Suddenly, faith was awkward af. Kept quiet about my beliefs, and it felt weird, like hiding part of me.

I noticed this went both ways. My atheist friends were equally hesitant to open up about their non-belief. It's like we were all tiptoeing around this massive aspect of our lives.

Now, after living in five countries, I've realized something big: faith isn't just personal, it's about community.

These days, I'm more open. Not preachy, just me. I'll join a puja or chat about atheism, no big deal.

Checking out local worship spots when I travel is eye-opening. When I was living in Thailand and felt homesick, there was this Gurudwara I used to visit - it was mind-blowing. People from everywhere, sharing a meal. No questions asked, just humans being bros.

That's faith at its best - bringing people together, inspiring kindness across boundaries.

Here's my take: Your faith (or lack of it) is your thing. But the community it creates? That's gold for everyone.

I'm done hiding, but not here to convert anyone. Being faithful doesn't make me less smart or scientific. It's just part of me, like loving cricket or needing chai to function.

Feeling weird about your beliefs? It's cool. No need to hide or apologize. Just don't be a jerk about it.

Also, have learnt 1 thing in this journey - faith >>> religion. Faith whispers truths; religion shouts instructions.​​​​​​​​​​​

I don't have a good family harmony and father is not supportive . My sister has health issues she has done 1 year btech when covid was there now she doesn't wants to join college she Has a 2year back now .she is not understanding importance of education. I am depressed

I joined AmEx Gurgaon in 2015 in PoS Fraud Strategy as a Business Analyst. I was having a rough time at AmEx as I really wanted to pursue my passion of Mathematics in the US. I had secured an admit at Univeristy of Illinois - Urbana Champaign and UT-Austin in their MS programme and was totally checked out at work.

During my tenure at AmEx, I was mostly bored. Looking at internal tools and spreadsheets was the worst. This coupled with the fact that I was travelling to and fro between Noida and Gurgaon meant that I was commuting a solid 4 hours everyday.

In this time of mental agony, I met this charismatic young woman, she was an Analyst in the Credit Underwriting Team. I don't know what got into me and I asked her out to coffee. We went to the Starbucks in CyberHub the next morning and she was the most delightful personality ever. Sweet and elegant, she talked of her passion with vigour, from her ideals to writing poems. I left that conversation feeling uneasy though. 

She reminded me of what I wanted but also of what I was scared to lose in her. 

We continued to date for the next 6 months in a hush-hush manner to avoid any suspicion at AmEx. I had to start the process of getting my F1-visa for the US and when I told her about it she was extremely disheartened.

In my heart, I knew that I wanted to spend the rest of my days with her and life without her was nothing but an empty void. She came with me to the US Consulate Office, and I don't know what got into me but I kissed her.

I knew that I wanted her more than anything else. 

Decided not to give the Visa Interview and applied to ISB with my GRE score. Got into it and ended up becoming a Management Consultant in MBB. 

We got married in 2019 and welcomed our daughter into this world in 2021. 

I wonder what life would've been living in the US. But whatever it would be, it couldn't be better than being in her arms when we come back from work. 

Have faith. Everything will turn out to be okay. Trust the process
