If you're new stick to index funds.

Max out 80C options like ppf/elss if you're in a higher tax bracket

I was talking more about investing in share market.

Invest to manage risk to your money, not for returns. Invest to meet goals, not for returns.

Low risk = Government bonds. High risk = Penny stocks.

If you are a noob, invest in a single index fund and don't keep tinkering with it. Continue frequent investments & let the fund be for 15+ years for you start seeing massive compounding kick in.

Balance equity with debt exposure - gold + epf + ppf.

Thats enough for a majority of people to build a massive networth.

Penny stocks are mostly manipulated. But do you have nah in mind ?

It's just an example of the two available risk extremes.

There's a lack of undervalued stocks in the market currently. Personally, I'd go with bluechip private banks (HDFC, ICICI, etc.) and some PSBs

Just find a good smallcase and buy. No point trying to beat folks who do this full time.
