Why are IITians so entitled and fragile about this tag??
Genuine question. No hate. I've seen a lot of people from particular colleges, treating others like they're nothing. We respect your hustle of getting into a college a lot of people can't . But can you chill out now???

The effort put into to get that tag is huge. If you are an general category person, then it is no less than super human. The attitude shown is absolutely worth it.

Understandable. But aren't there are many other "superhuman" things people do. NEET isn't easy either, UPSC isn't at all. But never seen any cult behaviour thing here. I just want to understand if that's a culture difference in IIT colleges or something.

I agree with you....But I have seen some people trying to constantly mock me just because of my IIT tag and it shows their inferiority complex ... That is also unfair....
There is no point in having superiority complex because of IIT tag and there should not be any inferiority complex for not having IIT tag...
Life is short... Be happy

Lmao people mocking an IITian ? Never heard about this xD
Yes, just because one is IITIAN, you can't expect him to know it all.... Many People leave no stone unturned to put IITIAN down at every possible occasion.... And they do it publically in a meeting to feel better about themselves....

I've met quite a few, and none of them were demeaning. It has more to do with people themselves rather than the IIT tag I guess.

Given how much hard work and talent they put in to get admission in IIT they deserve to be prideful above it

Can we justify the rude behaviour and demeaning behaviour by this?
If you want fragile, try telling a BITS Goa grad that they aren't BITS Pilani pass outs.
You probably had the misfortune that most iitians you met couldn't do anything better after that (it happens to an unbelievable extent, I saw a lot of similar people in my campus). But majority are not like this, they are aware of the perks they receive because of the tag, and although know that they deserve them in one way or another they continue to work hard and be respectful. I hope you meet some more iitians who had proper personal development as well
As someone who went to IIT, I do partially agree with you. I have seen quite a few folks( including some batchmates) who had superiority complex.
I feel a big reason for this is the hype created for IITs in our society and media. Agreed that IITs were really good 15-20 years back but now with opening of 2nd gen and 3rd Gen IITs, even a 10k rank in jee would fetch general candidates some lower branch in some IITs since many people choose other options like NITs/BITS/IIITs.
That being said majority of the people (>90%) aren't like that.
Also, to people supporting this kind of God like complex with reasons like they cleared a very hard exam, you are a part of the problem.
Entitlement is when one wants something but does not want to be actively contributing for it .. thinks she/he deserves it due to they current position .
But yes IIT people have themselves worked so hard so why this change ?
Well broadly there are two types
Majority - Born genius , Family contribution, Family reason , Conducive environment
Minority - Discover themselves . Self motivated , Self accountable
These are the ones you will not find entitled.
Reasons could be separate but Respect to both types for making it .
Bhai har jagah milte hain aise log duniya mai. Tum ignore karo aur chill karo, khush rahoge.
Have seen both cases for IITians but it stands out because a tier 3 grad would never be pretentious or act entitled( till he gets into a good company)
