Why did Bangalore succeed as the startup/tech capital?

I was wondering if Uttar Pradesh can be the next Bangalore. It has everything. It has a large population which is decently literate. It has IIT Kanpur, IIT BHU, NIT ALLAHABAD and other deemed universities. It has good connectivity to Delhi with Expressways and Highways. Crime is significantly down. It has the largest Airport coming in India Jewar International Airport. It has cities like Noida which already is an IT hub. I believe cities like Lucknow and Kanpur can be the next hub of investment and employment opportunities in India. They have their own metro projects for city commute and for long distance travel we have RRTS service that is a work in progress. To top it all Alcohol is not banned here unlike Gujarat. I think with the right planning Uttar Pradesh can have several Bangalore-like tech hubs. What are your thoughts on this?

2.5 years back, we consulted asscom Bangalore on what should be potential location to start our global business Center. Why ? Because asscom is supposed to be IT industry spoc for the government and has power to influence government to take care of the industry and in position to guide clients on location etc. We were told Bangalore is best location. Reason given ? Youngsters across India want to get away with family and have freedom, booze, party etc and Bangalore gives that freedom opportunity and hence there will never be talent shortage. (Very strange reason to attract companies but it seems to be working for some companies) When we asked about traffic, pollution etc. - we were told that’s a trade off to get talent and not relevant as in India people are used to traffic jams and all cities are equally polluted. (Again, very strange reason totally ignoring major civic challenges) My leadership from US was amused and decided never to consult them again. We ended up opening our Center in a tier-2 city and couldn’t be more happier. I moved out of Bangalore to lead the project and never going back now. Maybe if asscom leaders spent less time in cocktail parties with the government and spent more time in understanding genuine issues of people and arm twisting government to fix people issues, we would have been in much better situation. Industry made them like union leaders and they are now enjoying the limelight doing nothing for the industry Rant over .. this is not a diss in Bangalore but on industry bodies claiming to work for betterment of industry and not doing enough.

Hi folks! Am new to the city, working for an MNC and recently got the role of Project coordinator (similar to PM) but along with this, I want start exploring the startup ecosystem here in Bengaluru. Am still figuring out my niche. Could you guys please suggest what kind of events I should attend to meet people, what are some of the X (Twitter), Reddit, Instagram or any other such SM pages to follow so that I am relevant with the things happening here? I am up for part time jobs and apprenticeships if available to start immediately or after skilling up myself with the requirements. PS. As I am still finding my niche, any sector is good enough to begin with, but since I am a Biomedical Engineering Graduate, I would prefer something in the Medtech arena.

Roads, Metro, Taxi Drivers arrogance, Corruption....Naah Speak Kannada first. I'll be as blunt as possible. "Supporting this behaviour will make life hell for non-Kannadigas in Karnataka and Kannadigas out of Karnataka." This CM has done nothing but spread hatred and divide Karnataka as much as possible.

We are a digital marketing agency focused on helping startups (funded). We are currently remote with the team spread across the country. I'm contemplating moving base to Bangalore - a lot of folks say that Bangalore is the place to be for my business. Need some real advice, would me being physically present in Bangalore help my business? Do startups prefer Bangalore based agencies vs other city/remote agencies?

I am planning to settle down in one particular city in the next 3 to 5 years. I am currently evaluating Bangalore, Hyderabad and Pune. From long term perspective ( for next 20 to 30 years) Which city will offer better job prospects ( IT/Software Development/Product Management/Strategy related jobs) along with a decent life style supported by satisfactory amenities like Gated housing options which are not super expensive, Good schooling options for kids, Decent commuting facilities like Metro, wide roads etc. Interested to hear feedback from folks who went through or going through this dilemma.

Any news on who is getting it, what's like an average payout for eligible employees? As per the news article, approx 19000 employees are getting it. Anyone has insider info?
