Why do you work in the Big 4? [Deloitte, EY, PwC, KPMG]
Why do so many people work in the Big 4 given that you have to work so many hours and your work life balance doesn’t exist. Is having a Big 4 on your CV really worth all of that hassle and not having a life in your 20s? What about you guys? What are your personal reasons for staying with the big 4?
I think the most lecherous of the people stay back in the big 4 and climb up the ladder to keep on making the culture worse. The good ones leave in a couple of years with a brand on their CV. In reality that brand doesn't speak about any skill but your resilience to take the worst that is out there as an employee. This makes other employers more confident to bet on you as you will easily survive in their organisation.
With that theory, people with TCS, Cognizant, Infosys tags should have more respect for resilience. 😂
You don't need resilience there. The work culture isn't that toxic as far as I know. People stay there due to job security, better WLB, and generally lower technical skills that makes it difficult for them to switch

Money that's it. I'll work for a maximum of 5 more years here and then go to industry.

Brand name and unable to go to Big 3 and ATK and Accenture. The next good thing is Big 4 hence stuck...
We are not here by choice but circumstances are that way mate!
So I have recently quit my job at a big4 after 3.5 years of work ex. During my notice period, I made an effort to interact with many colleagues so as to understand the reason that if everyone is so frustrated here, then what's the motivation to stay?
So one point that I observed among many answers is that they have already been in the firm for quite some time.
And now they have become used to the toxicity and long working hours.
They feel they don't have much options apart from switching between the big4's. and if one needs to work in a big4 at the end, then why not stay in the current company itself.
Also, people who aren't much aware of how other companies work, have this opinion that what if they switch and the other companies have even a worse work life balance.
In that case, they make up their mind that they'll stay here since they have atleast become used to the culture here.

Money....
I would rather work in big4 and make my resume look good rather than work in startup.
Things are bit organised in big firms whereas it's difficult in small or medium firms...
Being a tier-3 clg passout with 5-6 yrs gap due to upsc, I am not at a liberty to be chosers anyway (beggars cannot be chosers)
Big4 experience looks good on ur resume....would rather look for work life balance in my 30s when I actually need it for family rather than in 20s....
My big4 pay me 6.5 lpa as fresher (fixed + joining bonus) whereas most companies out there wouldn't go beyond 3-4 lpa in such cases (witch companies to wouldn't even hire)
