Working at the Big 4 companies is a dream. If you also want to work in the Big 4 companies including Ernst & Young and Deloitte, you must consider some factors. These factors include salary, growth and work-life balance. Know between Deloitte vs Ernst and Young which one offers better opportunities.

I have heard that average salary of employees at Deloitte ranges between INR 4,48,470 LPA and INR 18,35,871 LPA. This range depends upon an employee’s job role and designation. At EY, the salary of an employee ranges between INR 60,000 per year and INR 207,000 LPA. Work-life balance is an equally important factor in current scenario. I have two friends who work at Deloitte and EY and they both think Deloitte has a better work-life balance than EY. In terms of professional growth, Deloitte seems a better place to work than EY.

Deloitte vs Ernst and Young both are great companies for IT professionals like you. But, if seriously thinking of getting a job in any of these “Big Fours”, make sure you consider certain factors. When it comes to work-life balance, I would suggest that Deloitte offers a flexible work environment which automatically boosts the work-life balance for employees. When it comes to salaries, EY offers better salaries but also has long working hours. However, Deloitte has low salaries and fewer working hours. If you want to earn more, then get ready to indulge in longer working hours and work at EY which may worn you out as many of friends say. As far as growth is concerned, Deloitte has a fine work environment that would help you grow both personally and professionally.

When I started my career in consulting, I had the opportunity to work at both Deloitte India and EY India. Each firm offers unique advantages.

In terms of growth, Deloitte stands out for its organized learning sessions, especially with on the job training and mentorship programs. EY India, however, focuses heavily on long-term career development with a strong rotational policy, providing varied exposure. Salary is fairly competitive in both firms, though Deloitte tends to offer slightly higher performance-based bonuses. Culturally, EY promotes a highly friendly atmosphere, while Deloitte’s environment is known for being competitive but profitable.

Lastly, work-life balance is a bit more controlled at EY, especially in client-facing roles. If you're considering Deloitte vs Ernst and Young, consider your priorities in work-life balance against competitive growth.
