Why is it so hard to get into an APM role? (read below)

I've been working as an APM at a startup for about 6 months. I kinda fell into the role. Was a developer previously for about a year. So in total about 2 years of industry experience. As an APM, I've not gotten a lot of opportunities to work on hands on PM stuff. My line manager isn't a great mentor and despite having conversations with him to give me more product related tasks, my situation has not improved. What should I do? Will I be able to land another APM or a PM job elsewhere?

Hello folks, I have total 2.5 yrs experience & 1.4 yrs of experience in product where I have- 1. worked on very early-stage startups(e-commerce, fulfillment) 2. collaborated with multiple teams 3. managed product life cycle 4. helped in creating good user experiences With the current competition in the job market, im having a difficult time finding one. Im not at all happy at my current job. There is no sense of respect & recognition whatsoever. I feel like im stuck between multiple excel sheets. There is no core product work happening. Lost my job at a small startup a few months back. Was working as an APM there with a total of 18 months work ex as an APM. Did my MBA and 2.5 years as a data analyst prior to that. Unable to get any interviews so far. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Hi, I'm a Marketing Analyst at a tech startup currently. I have a previous experience of working as a Demand Analyst (gauging demand of products through data analysis and market research), 4 years of experience in starting my own business (non-tech) which didn't work, and over a year of experience in my current job (learnt PM skills like wireframing, and user research). Current organization has no Product team. I've been trying to get an APM role for a while now but to no success as most want Product experience or an Engineering degree. Would it be advisable to keep at it for an APM role or get a business analyst job and look to become a PM later? Do companies hire for PMs without a solid Product background and an engineering degree?

Hey Folks I have been trying to break in product via APM roles but finding it hard to make it happen. I have a marketing background so that adds to the complexity I am wondering if I should keep trying via APM or learn to code so Frontend or design for 1-2 years and break in via internal switch.
