The reason he mentions is lack of Manufacturing sector.
It's a systemic & economic reason which has clear remedy like a labour reform law.
Unlike social or cultural norm, which cannot be helped at all and we all might have had to wait a generation.
I remember that this issue was brought up during Zomato IPO. Zomato's valued itself based on Grab/Gojek other Chinese, SG food delivery cos. But all those countries have very high women labour participation rates and double income households where food deliveries thrive. Food delivery doesn't have a pricing power in single income households in India as it is competing directly with the home kitchen. Zomatos revenues will plateau as their is no growth available till Indian women start working.
