Hi everyone, I am from a Tier-1 engineering college, looking for jobs in Product space. Any idea, what kind of companies/which sector is hiring right now? College placements have been really bad this year, and applying off-campus has been a real pain (no replies, calls from companies).

This is not the first time I am applying off campus, I know it's a tiring process especially at a fresher level, but this time it has been worse. If your company is hiring/if you know anywhere I should apply please help!🙏

Talked with few of my seniors working in finance/IB and tech and a few of my friends doing internships in big tech.
All of them are of the view that placements for 24 batch will be far more worse than 23 batch.Many companies have stopped expansion plans and arent expanding teams,I am mostly refering to the software/IT and finance industry here.
So my question, are the placements of 24 batch going to be worse than the 23 batch,what are your views?

How are the placements of 24 batch going to be?

Am currently in a circuital branch of a nit (graduating in 2025) preparing for tech jobs , not one of those brilliant minds , okayish on leetcode trying to cover major dsa topics and important questions.
But everyday I keep hearing about layoffs, AI, recession, cost cutting etc
Should I do something different, should I keep preparing  for tech jobs or I should shift to core jobs or GATE, really confused !!

Hello Folks! 
I'm a newbie on this platform, yet trying to put my insights as much as possible. Here to ask people out there who work in IT sector about how is the market going so far and when will this recession get down? To the on-campus and off-campus placed students, how did you manage to get placed even during the recession. Although the placements at our college is still on but only for Non-IT branches. I think the only people who are happy about the recession would be Non-IT people who have less competition and are getting placed at the core companies.

So I am a 2024 grad , currently doing an internship, If converted to full time , my CTC would be 8.55 ( base )
. I am not happy with this , and I wanted to know what is the job market condition right now ? Is the recession over or what ?

I am an undergrad student in the 4th year of Computer science and engineering degree, I'm a bit worried about the current scenario where jobs are getting scarce. I would like some suggestions on what type of skills I should learn to keep up with the demands and what type of roles or companies I should aim for. And any other suggestions for getting an internship are welcome.

What should I do to not be left out without a job in recession?

I'll be getting my degree next year, and the placements are starting from August. 
I've been working on a lot of projects lately that are based on web and feel confused whether I would be able to make it in placements. My parents have already poured in a lot of money for the tution and hostel fees. 
Fyi. I'm from a Tier 3 college and have no close relatives to guide me and I've only interned as a Research Intern last year. My GPA is around 7.

Would love to get some suggestions from folks who've been through this.

After seeing current placement stats of top IITs, even after Day6 not even 50% of the batch is unplaced can we say that 2024 is the unluckiest batch?

Students with good CGPA, having internships in reputed internships are not getting placed. It's worse for mediocre students.

What are alternativev for these unplaced students?

My contract was terminated last month citing restructuring.
Honestly, I saw it coming but wasn't expecting it would hit like this

I tried keeping my mind distracted, but now it has started to sink

I live with parents and they aren't saying anything (they were feeding me before and still are, no change for them)

I have had thoughts of ending all this, but do not have the courage. What if it ends halfway and I am redundant my whole life?

Credit card bills are coming through now and being 42% of my ex-salary wasn't something I was prepared for. I thought I was a sane spender.

How did you tackle being laid off?

Keep looking around, apply and eventually you're bound to get a good job I promise you. Just treat it as a numbers game. Ask your parents help with the credit card bills if you don't have enough corpus, there is no shame in that. You can give the money back to them when you're in a better position. 
  
 You're a nice person from what I know of you in this platform, you got this sis! Ending it all is not a good option for the people who care about you, and you're probably gonna look back later and smile and be glad for making it through

Currently I am in my second year from a Tier 3 college. On campus placements at my college for the 2024 batch is really worse. Few companies are hiring for sales roles etc. and most of them are putting tough eligibility criteria and hiring only few.

To be very honest, I have no hopes from on campus placements. I am going for the off campus route.
What should I do to get a decent intern in third year/fourth year and a decent job by the time of graduation?

Talking about my progress, I am doing DSA, taking part in contests in Codechef, Codeforces, and Leetcode. 
Besides that I have started learning Machine Learning. Have done only the Math part and basics though still now. Been to 2 offline hackathons.

Will the recession conditions will be alright around then? If any of your friends or relatives are working there or if you have any idea so please help me out I am a fresher, don't have a full time job right now doing internship will apply for only the top universities in US, I will get in most likely as per my profile. But is it recommendable to go in 2025 because people are not getting and jobs or internships there at all. Even from good colleges. Or should I stay here and prepare for GATE.

Should I go for MS in USA for fall 2025 intake?

I was graduated in August of '22. I was placed in 3 companies during the campus placement drive, out of which one is an MNC and the other two are, let's say pretty famous in India.  But due to bad decision making and other factors I decided to go with the MNC. It's been a while now yet there is no information from the company. The last mail I received was in the month of November, which is why I am afraid now. Are there any internships or job openings I can apply for?

I'm an non IT candidate with decent skills in programming. Are there any courses I can do meanwhile?
