A fresher looking to venture into consulting

Hi! I'm graduating this semester and would want to get some work ex before pursuing my masters. Should I go for the BCG Training Program? It's an 18 month paid stint in their GS office. Would it increase my chances of getting placed as an associate at BCG after those 18 months? Or is working as a consultant/ analyst in a (much) smaller firm better?

Working for a different firm with front office experience would be better than working back office for any of the MBBs. You would be getting client facetime which you can leverage after masters for interviews.

Hi, thank you for replying! I don't think I'd be getting client facetime over there as well, but, a plus point would be working directly with the founders of the firm and very seasoned, experienced consultants. Still the better option?

On another note, does Bain hire undergraduates for front office? I've only heard of people being placed at BCN.

So, making it from backend to frontend is usually not the best conversion rate

I am not sure about your background, but if the work interests you, you can take it up. Alternatively, getting frontend consulting experience at a smaller firm and then doing a Tier1 MBA is a very likely path.

If they don’t tell you it’s going to improve your chances of getting into BCG it won’t. I really doubt it will
