Don't invest in stocks if you are new to stock market. Things can change very quickly for a stock (even bluechip ones) and unless you keep tracking the stock you won't know of it until the price has tanked. But if you still want to, invest an amount that you won't mind losing.

Regarding MFS, don't invest all at once. Put your money in a liquid or debt fund for now and withdraw around 25-50k each month and invest like a monthly SIP. If you see a 10-20 pcnt correction you can increase the monthly amount or put all of it. Regarding specific mfs, I'd recommend starting with a nifty index fund.

If you have a high risk profile

  1. 1.5 L in large and mid cap
  2. 25k SIP in small cap fund

If you have medium risk

  1. HDFC Balanced advantage fund - 1L
  2. Large and Midcap fund - 2 L

Over longterm both ETF and Mutual funds give the same returns.

I'd say invest in NIFTYBEES and JUNIORBEES as they have lower expense ratios.

There is nothing called as long term. Buying something for long term is like buying a wall clock because it will become an antique when it gets old.

Evaluate a company as on today. The people who say valuation is based on future earnings, they lied..

How much wealth have you created yourself?

  1. Real estate (invested value)
  2. Liquid cash
  3. Other Investments (invested value)

The wealth should not be inherited.

I'm 30. No house, 10L in cash and 5L in mutual funds. No inherited weath.
