Is it safe to sign offer letter?

Hi members, Need your help in understanding future risk if I sign contract offer letter for a second job. I am full time working presently but due to sudden financial crisis caused by a business loss of my father I want to support him with extra income from secondary job, I gave and cleared interview for US client . The company is new setup and I thought I was offered a freelance role but now the company has shared a offer letter and the owner said he is ok with me submitting PAN Card of my wife/mother for salary to be credited . There is no PF account setup involved and has assured me there would be no conflict with my first job. He is asking to sign offer letter and come into employment with him as he wants to start his company as a full fledged org starting with hiring freelancers. Is it advisable to go ahead or is there risk of first job org coming to track it or the owner can blackmail me if he turns out to be fraud. I know ethically wrong and this is my first time trying second job due to circumstances. Please advise how to safeguard myself.

Seems a bit fishy that the owner is trying to make you sign a full-time contract and not a freelancer / consultant contract.

Just now he sent me revised letter with word mentioned Freelancing Consultant. I called him and asked to mention Freelancer in offer letter which he did now. Is it safer now?

Don't sign it and act as a freelancer. It may be a financial & legal trap that you signed a document as employee but your wife is getting the salary. Instead ask him to send offer letter on your wife's name, which she can sign and submit pan card. Everything legal in that scenario.

Couple of things you need to be careful about: 1. Create another personal email for working with the other org, and if they provide you with an email, check with them if that can be made as [email protected] 2. If possible, do not get the agreement signed in your name. Get it signed by some member of your family. Preferably the one whose PAN Card you are using 3. Make sure that the new org doesn’t have any non-compete clause in the agreement. This clause isn’t applicable to freelancing contracts

I asked to send me revised letter, he has mentioned Freelancing Consultant against role offered but now I see non compete clause also, he says it’s a standard template of offer letter. I have taken care of not sharing my own PAN Card but will be sharing relative Pan card and bank details which he only suggested, is this fine now? Thanks for your suggestions

Showing Forged offer letter

What can be the consequences of showing Forged offer letter. Like I have got offer 0f 24LPA from Company A. Now company B offers me same I want to join B, whatif I edit 24 of A to 28 LPA, show that to B and ask them match it. I don't think B will contact A to confirm it, BgV also concerns previous employers.. So is there any risk???

Offer letter sharing for salary negotiation

I accidentally shared the actual offer from one company with another company instead of sharing just the anexure. Will there be any consequences? Does HRs contact each other to verify competing offers? I am a bit scared that the first company might withdraw my offer if they come to know that I am window shopping.

Should I take this offer?

I got an offer from a big international bank in Mumbai. The project is in data analysis/engineering, which is something I have not worked in earlier. Another caveat is that I will be on a staffing company’s payroll and not on the bank’s. I am apprehensive about the 3rd party payroll thing. Is that something to worry about?

Are contract based jobs a safe bet?

Hey Folks, I recently got a job offer from a US based finance company. They do not have any subsidiary in India and outsource the IT half to a team here, which I will be a part of. The organization specified that this will be a contract based role, and that either party may terminate it with no prior notice. Is it a good idea to join this organization? The pay is very good, almost 4x my other offers, but I am worried about job stability and the perks i lose if I am not an employee.

Freelance without company knowing?

Hello, I started working as SDE at a regular tech firm a few months back. Prior to that I wanted to get into freelancing, even did a few projects. In the offer letter it's clearly stated that "shouldn't have any other interest in business" and talking around looks like they probably don't want us to have any other sources of income. I feel confident in few skills that I can more on side, (not greedy need more financial stability) My Questions [1] Freelance platforms (fiver, upwork, etc) ask for pan, is it okay if I give my friends/family pan ? [2] Should I register for a LLP on their name, use that pan everywhere and run the business myself ? [3] Is it good idea to run it under an alias ? Any advice / insight / experience would be highly appreciated 🙏
