Adani Power Halves Supply to Bangladesh Over Unpaid Bills

• Adani Power Jharkhand Limited (APJL) has reduced its power supply to Bangladesh by half due to unpaid bills totaling USD 846 million.
• The power shortfall in Bangladesh exceeded 1,600 megawatts (MW) overnight as the 1,496 MW plant now operates at 700 MW from a single unit.
• Adani Power had previously requested payment of outstanding dues by October 30, warning of supply suspension by October 31 under the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).
• The Bangladesh Power Development Board (PDB) has been unable to meet the increased charges, leading to growing unpaid dues.
• Gautam Adani has written to Bangladesh's interim government, led by Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus, to address the outstanding payments.
