Losing Interest In New Things

Like the previous comment already mentioned, we evolve with age. It's important to not regret what you left for a long time. What if you screwed up your career and were not with the woman that you are thinking about. What is the guarantee that if you and her were together, you would still be together. Now I am doing the same thing that you are doing, that is comparing what could have gone wrong to justify your choice. We often think that what we left would be the best case scenario, but that could be or could not be the case. So stop having regrets about what was left behind. If at all there is a slight chance to get in touch with her and by luck she is single, why not get in touch with her again. You did what was important for you back then, and good job on doing great in your career. It would be a bigger mess if that was not sorted, believe me ( Experience ^_^) About things not being exciting any more, try different things, spend time with kids, go out in nature and try to focus on the beautiful things around. Appreciate creation around. Try to find meaning in this life that appears meaningless at times. Been there, experienced that. It's just a phase.

Maybe I have a different take on this. This might be due to the reduced attention span of people. Watching reels and shorts might be a problem

I have lost my long time habit of listening to songs.

Comfort zone: As people age, they may become more set in their ways and less willing to venture out of their comfort zone. 7. Health and energy levels: Declining physical and mental energy can make it harder to muster enthusiasm for new experiences. 8. Life transitions: Significant life changes like retirement, health issues, or loss of a loved one can lead to a sense of disconnection and decreased interest in new things. It's important to note that these factors can vary greatly from person to person, and many people remain curious and engaged throughout their lives. Additionally, there are many strategies to maintain curiosity and interest, such as continuous learning, social engagement, and seeking out new experiences.

Start any medium to high intensity sport. Atleast 4 days a week, preferably with people you're familiar with. Drop Instagram/ Facebook/ Twitter. Please go out in the morning sun. Start reading books (fiction preferably) Start writing a Journal. Doing these things myself and starting to see little difference everyday progressively. Cannot guarantee the efficacy but can vouch for it.

You're feeling burnout. It's common in India today. I'll explain why. Since childhood we're chasing good marks and validation of parents by chasing good marks. Kids in other countries are playing on ground participating in sports or some other activities. Whereas we're handed RD Sharma since 7th-8th and since then our lives become entangled with biggest materialistic thing. Academic achievements. Believe it or not. These are not achievements. These are materialistic. Now you haven't taken rest just like everyone of us. You think you're working on some job for 9-10 hours a day or you're in college 9-12 hours a day. But the fact is that you're working since your childhood. You never had a rest. Rest doesn't mean a sleep. Rest means a period of time where you don't have to worry to go back to your job or college after vacations. Or where you have any job or college going on. Rest means completely empty life without goals. Yes that is rest. Read philosophy books you'll believe me. Modern thinking has put toxic things in our lives like we should always chase something a goal or a vision. But just do this once and listen to me. Read a philosophical book you'll understand it more. Start with stoicism or nihilism. Or taoism. These are good ones to start with. Then imagine a state in your life where you don't care about job or college. Just imagine that you don't have job or college at all. And go to rest. I was going to suggest leave the job. You can take a big leave from job and go for vacations. If I were you then I would have left the job because my mental health is more important to me and these are first signs of depression. Suicidal thoughts or existential crisis (thinking if I don't exist or if I never existed what would happen or it would be better if I didn't existed). And go to therapy buddy. You got the double hike? Spend a little 10k-20k for therapy it'll be worth it. And don't get into religious bs. It's brainrot now. Just go to therapy. Good luck.

Exactly. I mean why is this happening to me and my friend circle ? And now see in your post, there is something terribly wrong happening. Why have we lost all of our excitement for things we once had ? Something’s really fucked up nowadays. Are we heading towards doomsday. ?

As we age, our sources of happiness evolves, it could be that you are trying to find happiness in what your younger self enjoyed. This is not the dead end for sure, it’s just time for you to find your trigger again.

Have a good friends circle and spend time with them, play sports with friends, travel with family and friends... Building social life helps coming out of such cases.

I have been there and still I'm not sure I'm 100% out of it. First make peace with the thought of you won't forgive yourself for what happened to your 🩷. You have to forgive yourself, you did what's right for you(sounds selfish but that's fine you need to save yourself before saving others). Just have that thought very clear in your head that you did good for yourself and it's not right or wrong it's just that situation demanded. Watch the documentary "Blue zone documentary" in Netflix not suggesting you to live 100 years😉 watch to understand what people living for 100 years do. Pro tip which worked for me. Now a days to pass time, I stopped watching new series. Now I just watch stuff which I already seen this really excites me with the fine details which I missed in first time 😀 Still I have not figured out what excites me but trying to keep my mind in peace ✌️

I was here a few months back. I don't think I have been able to get over it but it's much better. Here is what worked for me; keep smiling, celebrating moments, being simple and occasionally stupid, spending time with parents, poking harmless fun at others, which will not hurt but make them smile. This automatically uplifted my spirits and I got back my interest in a lot of things. I am also a devotee and I believe that has helped me massively. But that's your personal choice.
