Best platform for freelancing?

Used Fiverr and Upwork for the past five years, but received fewer than 50 orders combined (lot of competition). I've had better luck with word of mouth, Reddit, and partnering with small companies whose clientele are local businesses and SMEs.

This is just my opinion based on my experience though
