Hiring and layoffs are entirely two different segments handled by a different mindset. In particular, Layoffs are never decided on who is working on critical stuff although, after 12K layoffs, VPs have a special right to veto a layoff decision of any critical resources if they like.
I believe there are 6-10 factors considered before putting a team or an individual on the layoffs list. Someone wrote a big article on blind about those factors but I believe People Ops reported that post & it was taken out.
Does anyone know the severance being offered?
It is generally 3 months severance, 2 months notice pay, medical extended by a year, earned leave encashment, any variable that would have been paid if it is in India. If it's Eu or US, the severance is between 6 months to 1 year.
