speciality Coffee
Hi everyone, wanted to get a broader understanding on specialty coffee as a investment opportunity. what are your views on this space and would love to chat more on what are some of the parameters that I should look out for.
I am just exploring on an idea with a coffee fanatic friend of mine to start a canned coffee brand. At this stage just exploring the idea as i have some newfound love with Coffee and my doctor friend is quite into this coffee game. A sort of coffee connoisseur/fanatic.
I have immense urge to build a quality product brand specially in FnB sector.
My another friend has a massive edible oil factory and business who may join too and share his expertise and food sector network.
My question to coffee fanatics on Grapevine-
What aspects would make you want to be a customer of my coffee?
What idea/tips/suggestion you may have for me considering that there are 100 brands already there in India.
My take on this- Create a prenium coffee category brand backed by proper scientific research which actually makes the coffee extraction /roasting /brewinf process premium and not premium by just price point.
I am a sucker for experiences and well designed products so the design of coffee will be top notch.
I will invest time and energy in RnD with chemical engineers, food technologists to acrually make a unique coffee product which doesnr exist in Indian market.
Please share me further pitfalls, tips, suggestions or anything!
Why would you want canned coffee instead of a fresh brew? Like if you bottle it you would add preservatives in it and that mostly kills the drink.
I want to create an FMCG brand. Not looking to create an outlet or a cafe kf sort or just sell coffee powder. But selling coffee powder is also an option which i can combine with sellimg canned ready to drink coffee.
Yes preservative is tricky. I have jdea of some preservation techniques to naturally increaee shelf life but with milk, its a differenr ballgame.
I feel it's a very small market to address.
You can target the rich customer base, but along with that you will need to educate people why you have the premium and best quality coffee.
I feel majority Indians taste bud don't care about robusta or Arabica coffee because they put a lot of sugar and major taste is for sugar.
You're right but i am not just looking for local markets.. Also we see Starbucks is costly, but still lot of people who canr even afford it usually, do actually. spend there. And yes, consumer education and awareness will be a must.
