SE Dilemma

It’s been 11 months since I joined my first job. Being from an IIT, I only did DSA in college and got this job paying a decent 20lpa base salary. But when I first joined here I was put at bench for the first 6 months. I always used to ask for work but got very vague work of writing python scripts. Finally I was put in a project but the work mostly involves utilising python and MATLAB. I have started doing DSA again and learning MERN stack. I am applying to a lot of jobs but apparently my resume is not getting shortlisted anywhere. I want to make this switch but my biggest fear is that if I will be able to get an offer which matches this salary. Any advice how to get out of this situation ?

I'm a b sc graduate. I'm currently working in a company for 2.52LPA. In- hand is literally 17.2k. I completed two years in Feb 2024. Now I have 2 YOE but no proper skill, with no proper working experience. I going nowhere staying here in the current company. Should I resign now and upskill or Should I upskill,get another offer and then resign. Please pour your suggestions. Also, please tell which technology can I pick and start learning. I strongly feel like it's now or never.

I'm a 2021 graduate. I left my first job at a small startup in Bangalore in January because they refused to pay my salary and my hike for 3 months (promotion was done but just on paper, they were paying the old salary). I'm not good at DSA at all even though I handled multiple projects related to security and development tools using Go and have a good understanding about the language. But I'm not good at DSA at all, I don't have a leetcode account or solved any DSA problems yet. If I want to get a job I have to start DSA from scratch which will take a minimum of 4-6 months. Which makes me unemployed for 1 year. I'm scared whether this is a red flag in the recruiters point of view. And create a situation where recruiters intentionally try to hire me for less salary. What should I do? Should I leave my current domain and switch to other technical jobs that may not require DSA during interviews or spend time to learn enough DSA to clear interviews? If there's any way to get some guidance from senior engineers or people who had similar issues like this in the past, please let me know.

I am looking to switch companies, however I end up logging 12-13hrs daily ( including breaks). How do you all manage the time and how long are you logged in ?

Currently I’m a software engineer in corporate. But now my company has full demotivated environment and I’m not able to work or deliver my tasks. I’m applying for other companies also . But don’t even get interviews scheduled. What should i do? Should i go for govt jobs also? Should i resign first then decide? Should i continue working ? Should i think about career switching? My brain itself is not braining , and filled with such thoughts.

Hey grapeviners, a data analyst this side (2 yoe). I aim to pivot into software engineering roles in the near future and that's what I do in my free time - prepare. I recently realized how much time I'll have on my hands if I start devoting my entire day to my studies and preparation - which includes building a project and studying advanced DSA. I can do this by resigning at my current job and then try to go all in on my "mission: domain change", and I definitely am okay to sit at home and put 3 months on this but nobody I discuss this with, advises me to quit my job for upskilling (or cross-skilling in this case). Most advice I get is to do this WITH my current job even if it takes longer to do so. I don't understand this - what will go so wrong if I resign and invest in myself? I am well aware of the market situation rn for engineers and even understand that before you make these decisions, it is important to have a financial as well as mental runway. I am sorted on the financial runway part and for the mental runway - I think I'll enjoy the time off and having the liberty to architect my own day makes me drool already. I want to have the whole day to myself to learn backend, solve DSA questions, hit the gym, make meaningful and large chunks of progress daily. That's what I aspire to do post my notice period and I confidently believe in my abilities to do so, but I've been bogged down by all the advice I've got till now. Am I stupid enough to believe in myself and think 3-4* months without a job is a boon for me in the long run than a bane? Am I stupid enough to believe that 3-4* months of working on myself will change me? Am I blind eyed by something or am I being plain delusional? I use 3-4 months coz that's what I think realistically will be enough for me to upskill, be interview ready and get a new job. And this time frame I've considered after a 2 month NP. Hey everyone, I'd like to hear your thoughts. Have any of you successfully aced an interview solely through tutorials, YouTube, or side projects without hands-on work experience? I am a SDET exploring a transition to SDE role, internally tried within my company ,not happening due to various reasons, hence trying to switch over. In order to achieve that, I've worked on full-stack sidd projects, practiced DSA, and made a good "tailored" CV that gets me interview calls. But I am currently facing mixed experiences in interviews. I am able to answer a few but struggle with some questions and seek advice on how to improve. Any suggestions for this career switch are greatly appreciated! Thanks a ton

Feeling stagnant in my tech support job having 6.5 years of experience, currently working in Bosch. Contemplating resigning to pursue software development engineering roles after upskilling myself.
