Are companies hiring freshers currently for SDE roles ? Is mass recruitment still happening through college placements?

We faced a really slow moving job market in Indian IT last financial year. I heard this year it will open some opportunities. It is almost the end of April and I am not getting any calls from the recruiters. FYI, I am a Java backend tech lead, Open for architect position as well. Having 9+ experience entirely in the same technology and in the digital banking domain. I am worried, will the market ever be back to normal like it was pre-covid? Even during lockdown, there was a lot of hiring. What's wrong now? Wars one after another, making uncertainty. I personally feel, during the WFH period they hired people from different cities and made them work together, which worked fine for WFH. Now they're forcing us to work with a team which is not in your office, not even in your city. Now, they don't need to hire people from the same city/location which makes their job easier. They just pick someone from the pool, internal recruitment etc. People are fearing job security so a very few are putting papers, resulting in no vacancies. The market is completely biased towards employers and we can't do anything about it. When will this end?

I’m curious to know from the freelancing community in here about their journey and how freelancing has been for them. I’m also trying to understand the challenges they are/were facing working with clients in India and what platforms they often go to to look for freelance work.

I have expertise in full stack backend heavy and react based web frontend roles and native mobile development on iOS too. I am looking for actual real ways to freelance. Freelancer and upwork are not panning out well

What does unemployment around you look like? Or if not around us, for people trying to come out of Tier 2/3 towns. These mass recruiters (behemoths like Capgmeni & Cognizant + TCS Infosys) are actually the gateway for many into a city life. In the absence of it, it's scary to think what they're up to.

Hello everyone, currently I am in a service based company earning 9 lpa as a frontend developer(React) for 4 months. Before that I was in Tcs for 1.5 years. I am not happy in the current project. Changing project is not possible. I am thinking of resigning and taking 5-6 months to start freelancing as frontend/full-stack developer or start preparing for product based companies. What are your opinions?

Background: Tier 1 college, Branch - Civil, 2018 passout, Presently working at a state govt PSU with around 11.5 LPA CTC (salary part only, excluding medical facility which is decent) Things I like at the present job: 1. Home state posting all throughout the career 2. Easy to take leaves and can mostly go home on weekends 3. Good work life balance. Things I don't like: 1. Rural posting (as of now, will change in future) 2. Repetitive kind of work - not challenging enough and hence limited growth (I guess this is true for most PSU jobs) Why thinking of the switch? 1. Civil was never really my passion - just what I got. 2. Taking the job was mostly due to family pressure of doing govt job. 3. Liked programming during school days, did web dev work in college fests. 4. I do like the process of building something up and also learning new things, and am hence beginning to feel tech is something that would suit me. 5. Salary and fomo factors are there but not significant enough. I feel I have not been taking enough risks and hence am not being rewarded enough. I want the thrill of grinding and progressing in life. What's stopping me then? 1. Obviously, the safety and protection of a secured job is difficult to overcome. 2. Family wants me to settle now, but I don't. 3. Recessions like this where layoffs take place even for skilled people due to factors not in one's control. 4. The fact that I might have to take a paycut, to begin in this career. So what should be the path to take? 1. Learn DSA, make projects and apply. Could use my network (although very very few of my batch are in tech, most are in analytics, finance, core sector) to begin somewhere and switch 2. Go for M.Tech in tier 1, and hence aim for product based companies. I am more inclined towards option 2, as the tech job market being what it is now. I am ready to slog for 2 -3 years (mtech preparation, mtech and then placement) Please help me out with your views and suggestion.

Hey guys, I'm stuck in an MNC currently without any real world project for almost half an year now. I've been building projects on my own and looking for a switch. Since, situation in the market is a little tight, I'm hardly finding any non internship opportunities for freshers. Kindly let me know of any sources or any suggestions on how to move on from here. Seeing my friends getting fired from FAANG co. and still not get any other offer makes me more disheartened. Please help.

I have been working in an internal project at a service-based company for almost 3 years now (that's my total YOE) and I feel like I need to move out of my comfort zone. (more so because I've been rotting in my home location since the pandemic). I want to move to a different country and work there (temporary is fine as well) Can you guys name a few companies that provide onshore opportunities (outside India, preferably European countries) along with the criteria to be deployed on such projects? Hi! I am a 2019 CS passout and after engineering worked in my family business in mechanical sector as a sales executive. I am no longer interested in this field and thinking to shift to IT by relearning MERN. 1)Currently i am 27 YO so is it too late to join IT as most people of my age are senior devs/tech leads? 2)Will IT industry(startups/MNCs) accept me with no prior experience in dev as compared to recent passouts? If you’ll could advise me it would be of great help.
