Koo is in distress - only 20cr left in the bank
Source: https://thearcweb.com/article/funding-out-of-reach-koo-explores-strategic-sale-partnership-sharechat-linkedin-IDxDe2aP7Ab05Gho What surprises me is that one cofounder is left with just 1% stake. I mostly discount such things but here it was an explicit bet because the funds knew Aprameya and not because they saw any potential in the idea. Doomed to fail from the start, no matter how right wing they positioned it to be.
Gov & right wing had nothing to do with koo from day 1 ! Why are you bringing them into this...all gov personalities are on twitter themselves, so why drag right wing into it.... the product itself was hapf cooked and investors jumped on the ideo of Indian sicial media

I didn’t say the right wing supported them. I said they try to position Koo to be pro right wing, sucking up and licking their boots, and still didn’t work out as the govt and/or the rw folks didn’t care about any of this.

Why do you think that it was the right wing party people who joined it first ? Just a coincidence ?

When a bhakt supported app stops being supported by the bhakt agenda, this is what happens
Are you against Indian products competing with global giants? Most people don't even have the balls to do something like this. Why abuse anyone who attempts to do something so unthinkable? Commentary dena easy hai. Karna bahut mushkil.

1 - no, I’m not against Indian products competing with global giants
2 - there was no abuse in what I said, padhna seekhlo Amazon mein kaam ayega
3 - comment karna haq hai, tumko nahi karna toh tum mat karo. Mein karunga.

Isnt 20 cr more than enough to run a business of such kind?

Not at all, server costs alone will burn through it in couple of months. Let alone employee, marketing and other expenses.

I remember some guy/girl from koo put a post on Grapevine 1 month back stating how Aprameya used to openly say in townhalls that "aapko yahan g**nd marwani padegi"

I have worked in koo for a few months during its early stage. It is the most toxic work environment I have ever seen. The co-founder knows jackshit about tech and expects every feature to be delivered in a day or two and our CTO doesn't object to anything he says. And the result is we devs have to work our ass off to deliver them on time . The code quality used to be always compromised since there is no time to work on refactoring and optimising the code base. In a few months me along with almost all the founding members left the organisation. They tried hiring people in large from top institutions but I know the same cycle is going to be repeated if the top management is toxic and incompetent to such a degree.
No USP. Basically a twitter clone sold in the name of nationalism. It was doomed to fail and the investors are idiots.
Lol! Desi developers need to realise that this overhyped nationalism of creating apps that are over ambitious to compete with Social Media Giants like Twitter must stop!
I heard the app experience was shit. A better product could have at least given them a chance.
The burn was soo high i doubt if koo would be able to survive this full year.
Should never trust random news articles like this. The whole cap table is random. No founder has just 1%. Also, the investment in Koo was a bet on the language world. Most global products are English first, while 80% of the world speaks a non English native language. It's a huge gap and opportunity. If they can meaningfully grow, they can be huge.

The capable can be verified by going to mca. And the arc reporters are reputable in that regard.

I used to intern here when the company was really small. Most of the initial app was built by outsourcing to contractors, the tech culture was poor.
They brought in Phaneesh Gururaj to fix it, he’s a great CTO to work with tho.
My bets are actually on Koo surviving and becoming central in the social media scene in India. The momentum it has currently is huge, we don’t notice it because we are not their target audience
Someone please shed light on FAUJI game now. The meed to know where it stands. Lot of influencers backed it including prominent actors.
