Koo is shutting down
Another startup that could have been something had it not been for the bull market and Tiger investing unnecessarily. Over $66Mn raised, and now it's over.

How was the tech stack? I had an offer from them when it was called Vokal. Was not sure of business prospects and declined it though the tech looked interesting

And yet the founders will not acknowledge their incompetency!
They’ll shift the blame on Indian users and their mindset and how it is so challenging to build a new social media for Indians while ignoring the fact that X, insta, fb, whatsapp and prev. Tik tok are whales in India.
End of the day, these founders will be celebrated as people who drove massive fundings in, made millions and accomplished FIRE. Investor will get a tax write off.

Writing was always on the wall. Sharechat is not far away from this if things don’t change
You can’t build a product in patriotism alone. This was a stupid idea to begin with and no amount of money thrown on copycats will ever work. Shame on the vcs who thought this would be a good move. This is the kind of thinking that holds back innovation and tech in this country.

App was not presentable enough to catch interest of common public. App was not able deliver features that would have made it attractive over twitter.
Their 2022 revenue was just 14 Lakhs against a burn rate of 197 crore!!

VC became Koo-tiya
Had evaluated them for one of their initial rounds. Could not really see a use case, forget monetisation.
