Do you feel there is a vacuum in very important fields in India?
Despite being #1 in population, I find vaccuum in Imp Fields like
- Politics - no great politician
- Media - no great journalist
- Music - very few great artists like A.R.R
- Movies - Bollywood is struggling
- Sports - Except cricket other all sports suffering
- Innovation- Hardly any pathbreaking companies.. & So on… If you agree what are the reasons for this? Are we just focused on playing it safe and earning money ? Or there are no role models to follow?
No
We have good people in respective fields. Maybe biases play when we compare.
@ElonMast please share some examples of good people who are doing excellent work..genuinely asking
Politics - it can become controversial, but putting it here, the way Modi govt expedited certain economic reforms. I feel, Indian economy survived the worst post covid slump.
Media - different folks at different times from Barkha to Ravish to D’Souza. They skew to the sides but look at the whole electoral bonds unearthing, judiciary & media deserves a credit. Not that it will impact mandate in a big way, but showing red flags was necessary.
Music - Diljit appearing at many global platforms, Grammy award in our kitty. I feel this space is crowded & fast moving. At the same time, music is much dependent on individual taste.
Movies - believe me this is the biggest soft power we have across the globe. I’ve met Iranians to Indonesians to Brazilians, first exposure to Indian culture for them was via movies. Now, someone can say we don’t have successful art movies. We won’t have, in fact people liked 12vi pass a lot, I
felt it’s typical “rag to riches” story.
Sports - Neeraj Chaudhry? Rohan Bopanna? Why we are missing these heroes??
Innovation - we are in survival mode as of now, innovation market will take few years/decades to come here.
Playing it safe is a compulsion for a developing country, bringing bread to the table is first level of survival.
As of now One could get a serving of biscuits for equivalent of 6 US cents, that's arguably top notch/ world class CPG execution for you (all the manufacturing efficiency to supply chain optimisation taken care of)
In the larger scheme of things, artificial famines were not too long ago, priorities have been different, it's a coming of age story.
There is nothing objective about Movies Music Politics, if the metric is money few Indian artists do own Rolls Royces / Mansions.
How does one even define "great politician", one staying in power for longest? Nehruji anyone?
Are you ok? Didn’t understand anything you have written
It's a secret message only the enlightened can decipher.
