Maybe I am the odd one out (on the happier side)
I have seen so many posts, on Grapevine alone, of how people are being harrassed and traumatized in their companies. And honestly, reading all those posts and comments scare the hell out of me because I haven't been subjected to or witnessed anything like this. Let me share the experience I have had till now: I have ~2 YOE, and Capgemini is my first company. I know the pay isn't great, but that's the only thing I don't like about the company. The people I have met or worked with in the entirety of my time here, they are supportive, kind, and considerate. Every single one of them, including the managers/directors. They don't expect you to work late hours or on weekends, unless there are critical escalations/important deadlines. My manager gives out words of thanks and appreciation, even on the smallest of things (yes he talks strictly too, and usually I am at the wrong when this happens, nothing major though). I get all the support that I need. I don't have to worry about the work life balance. I have never had a single issue with a teammate, and most of them are seniors whom I work with. No big egos, no attitude, nothing. They help out whenever I reach out to them. And it is the same story on my client side as well. I have worked/interacted with both male and female leaders, and all I have ever seen among everyone is empathy, respect for everyone's work, and always ready to help nature. I understand that this is all just my experience, but my reason for writing this post is to share a positive experience and that there are still good people around here.
Here is something I can tell you about bias. It is human nature to be very emotional and complain when things are bad and not talk about it too much when things are good.
Forums like Grapevine and Blind are filled with unhappy posts because of this reason. Most people complain when things are bad. Hardly anyone praises when things are good. For every bad post you see here, I am sure people are out there having a good time at work.
Treat this with a pinch of salt and live out your career, you only have one. Don’t be bogged down and settle because you are scared of the unknown.

There are bad projects in good companies and good projects in bad companies..
I wish more people wrote out these things

@cantthinkofagoodname Good for you and do not fall into the salary rush game w.r.t. peers as long as you are happy with your work and managers. Work Life balance & Job satisfaction is something that the majority of people across world are striving hard to get, even though they earn hell loads! So consider yourself one of those very few lucky ones to have such nice people around you. Observe & learn a lot mainly. That shall definitely play a big role down the line in career with your subordinates when you become a manager. It's not all about money esp. when you have such a long career ahead. Being a 'self satisfied' as well as a 'team loving manager' is something which hardly 5-10% of manager workforce has achieved today. You seem to be on the right track. Learn the behaviour so well, till it becomes a habit & then explore places. Also don't get into too much of this comfort zone for very long that your career growth takes a back seat.. All the best! My team experience has also been mostly neutral. Some politics obviously when you are competing with your teammates for promotion but nothing ludocrous.
I am on NP now only due to salary. My manager is pretty cool so I was able to have an open conversation about the pay. Both of us are extremely underpaid. He is also stuck with 2-5% hikes for the past 2yrs and he also wants a pay bump since he has kid's school admission next year. I told him I'd be happy to stay if I get a decent hike and he clarified the status of the account and chances of hike. Both of us started job hunting together and are each other's references 😂
So even though people are good, the org is losing a lot of high-performers due to the pay and shitty strategies implemented by BU leaders

Well, I don't face torturing at work, but the pay is peanuts that qualifies it as not loving my job for me.
So far I've had well mannered colleagues but my stance remains *seh lenge thoda* if I'm paid actual good wages.
Frankly the same experience for me in my company. Hearing about all the things going on in other companies on Grapevine, makes it very hard to quit for pay and toxicity for me. 😂

I love everything at my workplace and about my team
I am only trying to switch because of the salary if they increase it even by 40-50% I would love to stay here

I'm about to join Capgemini as my first company. And this post filled my heart with hope because all i was hearing was bad support bad project. Thanks for sharing i hope i too get to experience this.

Why slog in Deloitte . Don’t just think about the brand tag . Why fish in a pond when you can hunt in ocean, lake and everywhere . Shift to other organisations with a good 45 - 50 % hike . If you are lucky you might get even better hike . There are companies which provide better work life balance . Though perks might not be same as Deloitte. But work life balance and mental peace is what it matters at the eod . Life is beyond Big4 and big3 . Family friends and quality air and zero toxicity should be one’s priority.
I remember leaving Accenture in 2022 because pay wasn’t that great there. But now I miss the team. my lead/Associate manager was a fantastic leader. He was an example of how a manager should be.
The team was good, very less politics frequent team activities like virtual lunch (best we can do in covid) fun Friday on every Friday a proper team bonding was there. No work after 3 PM on Friday.
Office was in my hometown.
Now I am getting paid decently well, but those things are missing. Manager is terrible no knowledge, full of favouritism and team is full of politics sometimes feel like I am loksabha or what. This is by far the worst team I have worked they don’t give person their personal space, demean you on your back in front of manager. They are mostly insecure people with no confidence on their skills and full confidence on their political abilities.
No fun Friday. Meetings on Friday evening.
Work is also not good, accenture had better work (may he I joined the wrong team) and on top that I am living in different city now away from home.
Money is very important factor but these small small things are also important.
And recently our company hired lots of leaders from Amazon making company culture worst.
There are benefits and perks of working it’s not completely terrible but team and manages sucks and they make lot of difference on your mental health.
The lesson I leaned, If you are happy at place please stay there, big brands doesn’t always bring good work culture.
I believe there are good and bad teams, not bad people.
Last year, I joined Infosys for a Java Spring Boot role, rejecting an offer from OFSS for a Flexcube role. I had already started my career in that role and didn’t want to return to it for various reasons.Within a week at Infosys, I was assigned to a project. After working for two months, I began to understand the team dynamics. Everyone seemed to feel underpaid, and they often complained about various issues instead of focusing on work. This environment was draining, and I never logged out with a sense of accomplishment or the feeling that I had learned something new. Additionally, we frequently had to work on weekends, and the team's inefficiency meant work was never completed on time.Eventually, I maneuvered my way out of that team after an argument with the manager and joined another project within the same client but with a different team. This new team was a pleasant surprise. Everyone was skilled, supportive, and appreciative of each other's efforts. There were no blame games, and everyone helped each other out. For the first time, I felt that I was adding value every week.Ultimately, it's the team's competency and collaborative environment that makes work enjoyable and life easier. Last year, I questioned my decision to join Infosys, but now I realize it was not so bad.
