Getting anxious when I look at CTCs!
Hey, I am SDE with 2YOE getting 10LPA. Here I could see many folks posting their CCTC as 30LPA, 35LPA or even beyond for 2-3years exp. How is it possible? What you guys work with? How many of you guys have such high CTCs? Plz share your journey so i can pick up good stuff from it. Thank you
Chasing the ctc is just a race that keeps on going .
Your current ctc was once your dream ctc.
Similarly, once you reach 30/40 lpa, then you will feel that if i reach 50, i will feel good. But it never happens.
Beyond a certain ctc, you should stop chasing the ctc because it will not make much difference in your living style. All the extra money just gets added to your savings. (Unless you are the type who spend all your salary on unnecessary stuff)
I understand your point. But my CTC is not so great that I can attain maha nirvana😅
I have some personal commitments, need to bring up my family and I should spend some good time for myself too. So to make all these happen I should certainly earn more (not for spending on anything unnecessary).
Also I am working constructively towards it... Hopefully i will reach it soon
Maybe after a few years, like in my 30s or so I will also come to the state of mind as you said in the comments..
Even i have not reached that stage of maha nirvana. Neither my ctc is that great
(Currenty 0 ctc as laid off again, and have family responsibility and all)
But what i have realized is to chase more important things in job
- Good work-life balance
- good colleagues
- whether you feel fulfilled and respected in the org
-manager that supports you and mentor you
And focus on other things in life, i.e. family, personal health (which is most neglected by all of us), learning new things (maybe sport, music instrument or whatever gives you that good feeling)

10 LPA to 25/30LPA? Like what's the strategy for it? Do you work in niche skills or good in DSA?

I am not in TCS. And I'm a Product Manager.
Yes, your DSA, communication skills and understanding of what and why you are building need to be strong to clear interviews.
Your resume skills also need to be strong to get interviews.

Dost, 8 years ago I with 2 yrs experience earning 18 thousand per month used to look at people earning in double digits as they some sort of Ambani.
Now I earn in multiples of double digit, I would have dismissed myself in past thinking I could earn this much,
what I am saying is give yourself some time, don’t be harsh on yourself, everyone is running race in same direction but on different race tracks.

The highest CTCs are the first ones out in case of layoffs, After a point the pickings are also slim, the number of companies that will hire you also greatly reduce! It’s not all win win!
As long as your happy doing what you do don’t focus on CTC so much
Ture. I may not want the highest CTC but a better one than now... So my needs are fulfilled.

30 LPA ka ctc breakup ni batate log . In some case inhand is less than 70k pm
Yes. Ik they will have stocks, variables, other benefits + huge tax and might get 1 or 1.1 in hand as per fixed pay...
May not 70-80k😅

Us moment hai btw woh 2.5-3 years jane se switch karne se ho jaega 30-35 lpa . Also it includes stocks + bonus .

Just wait for one year as market is correcting. Many more layoffs will come and salaries will correct.
@Idly how are you working towards improving your skills?
Can you ask for a promotion/ or hike in your current company?
My recommendations are below.
1. Work REALLY hard, up-skill yourself and don’t compare yourself with others.
For a promotion you can ask the following questions to your manager.
2. what are the things he/she does can be transferred to you.
3. What are the things you need to see in me to put forward a promotion for me?
If these don’t work find well paying roles outside the company. Don’t be in a hurry to get into a well paying job, take your time, do your research on the company and your position.
You could also ask for a pay hike in 6 months if you are a best performer.
When you change companies- ask for joining bonuses or present a well studied salary comparison (for a higher pay) with your hiring manager. Never let them feel that you are being greedy though, :p
IMO, if you work hard and build a good rapport with your manager and work on building a good dependency under you. Companies would consider retaining you, because for them hiring and training your replacement would be time consuming and could be expensive as well.
Thanks for the inputs. Actually i am looking for a higher package because of two main reasons: 1. Because of my current situation, I need more money to financially sort out a few things. Not because I need a fancy number to show off😅
2. Also my current role and tech I work on doesn't actually suit my skills. Though I asked out multiple times in my company, I am actually into the SDET role but out of my own interest I asked development tasks and successfully completed too. Further I asked them to completely move me into the SDE role but since one 10YOE resource left the project they literally made me work on that task and completely denied the SDE role.
3. I am honestly upskilling myself, i enrolled in a course, doing DSA problems, did side projects etc etc . I am sure, soon i might switch to a better job but mean while sometimes I get low/ wanted to check others how to make it there.
4. SE is like a mini government office. They moved me into the project of 10YOE and i am picking up and doing things for it single handedly. Still they are crying to give me a rise! The internal movement is dead slow, expecting from them is completely useless for ambitious 1-3yoe folks like me. We might get to see good opportunity in SE maybe after reaching some 7-8YOE. So I completely made my mind to move out and get into a place where I get better value

I get around 47lpa in hand yearly( base+bonus + stocks) . Dsa lld and hld . Being good in the baive and landing role at any decent company can pay you that much.

Bro I work with 3.5 lpa, 10 would be so much better for me. What stack should I work with to grow? Currently I develop flask/django apis, use mongo and on the deployment side I use docker.
