I am Enginnering Manager with 9 years of work ex. I have opportunity in same company to love to Product Management role. People working as PM with good work ex and engineering background, how are you finding the role ? P.S. I love working in technology and still do lot of Hands on. Engg Manager with sound Product sense is always going to have more impact as compared to a PM or SPM at any org. However, if you are interested in getting into a more strategic role towards the later part of your career, then may be you can consider transition to PM now & grow up to become a VP or director of Product.
