English problem

I came from a government school where they taught in my mother tongue. After completing 11th and 12th grades, I cracked the JEE exam and went to NITs. However, I never worked on improving my English. Just two days ago, I had an interview. They asked normal questions, and after 15 minutes, the interviewer said, "I am done with you. I asked everything I wanted to."

I answered every question and thought I was getting the job. Later, one of my friends who works there told me that my communication skills were the problem, so they decided not to hire me.

I just wanted to ask if there is anyone who can give me advice or suggest where I can improve my English

Start with reading , it might not sound right now but trust me dude it helps . Start reading a newspaper (don’t read just fb news) specially newspapers like the Hindu . Additionally read novels - if you read novels from American writers , those are easier . The main skill gap in communication that I have seen with people are their limited word stocks . I have met people with so much knowledge but they suck presenting or bringing their ideas to public because they can’t put their words together . Thirdly . start listening to podcasts , listen to someone like Harsha Boghle - write down some of the words they use in explaining their POV . Try to use those words during your conversation . I hope this helps , thank you
