Enigma: Javier Milei Argentina's president

He came in around dec'23 when Argentina was kind of not doing so well.

This figure includes cuts made since his initial announcement in March 2024, when he had already terminated about 25,000 positions. Milei's administration has indicated that further job cuts may continue, with a new suitability test introduced for about 40,000 temporary state employees, where failure to pass could result in termination

3. reduction in corruption His administration has implemented severe austerity measures, including significant cuts to public spending and the elimination of various social welfare programs, which he labeled as corrupt. By reducing the number of government workers and agencies, Milei aims to limit opportunities for corrupt practices within the public sector. He announced a complete halt to government advertising expenditures in 2024, which had previously been used by politicians to influence media coverage and potentially engage in corrupt practices. This decision aims to ensure that media outlets operate independently without reliance on government funds.

4. budget surplus In January 2024, Argentina recorded a budget surplus of approximately $589 million, marking the first financial surplus since August 2012. This was achieved despite ongoing challenges such as high inflation and rising poverty levels.
