Entitled Idiots in the workplace - Engineering edition

Disclaimer - I respect engineers and the talent they posses. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea.

I’m at a startup where the Head of engineering is a total dipshit. Most pathetic attitude anyone can have. Lacks basic corporate ethics. Does not accept invites but loves questioning the agenda which is a part of the meeting invite. Loves ambiguity which is an irony considering they build stuff. Most of all doesn’t apologise for joining a call late. Doesn’t respect anyone’s time and most of all shows attitude on call. Man who you trying to show off to?

Example of his attitude coming down to his team - A team raised an issue with relevant details on a screenshot. An intern wrote this - please type the code and send it to us, it’s easy to debug. He backed this attitude by saying we can’t take up typing 10 digit numbers from a screenshot.

He’s done no significant progress. Only achievement he’s done is drag his ex colleagues and ensure the same shit attitude is replicated across his team.

We hire a lot of interns and most of them being Gen Z or whatever the current generation calls themselves, act even more entitled with such idiots around.

I don’t mean to demean Indians who are our own folks but I feel we take each other for granted. This person is a prime example. Guy won’t last one bit any other environment or country.

He’s come from one of the ed tech companies. Should’ve known, guy is incapable of handling pressure or even give straight answers.

I’m seeing this trend of shitty behaviour across many companies as well especially with the engineering teams who have gotten promotions for jumping around but have 0 management sense not leadership skills.

Any leader should be able to empathise with folks across the organisation.

End of rant. Hope this loser either bucks up or leaves.

This is precisely what is wrong working in India. Leave this godforsaken country as soon as possible.

I would much rather make sure that my kids don’t have to face toxic work culture

The skill set required to make it o HOE is different. It's not just tech knowledge.

I used to crib like this untill I got to see the other side. Many of us will also get there, untill then it's fine to rant.
