Goku here, Super excited to launch my open-source Perplexity

Hey fellow comers, just showing my progress. I will launch by next month hopefully. I've completed my work for: 1. ⁠Streaming text 2. ⁠Formatted responses 3. ⁠Citations and websites Currently, I'm working on finishing: 1. ⁠Chat history 2. ⁠Documents library 3. ⁠LLM settings I'm using the Vercel AI SDK, Next.js, Firebase, and Bing to ensure setting up and running the project is as straightforward as possible. I hope to support more LLMs, like Claude, Mistral, and Gemini, to offer a mix-and-match approach. Although I've accomplished a lot, there are still a few more weeks of work ahead. Unfortunately, I've failed to raise any funds for my project and am fully dependent on the open-source community for support. Note: VCs told me I can't build perplexity so simply because I don't have that much skills or high enough pedigree. They are literally blinded by the fact that any average dev can also build such an app.

Hey guys, I am here just to beta test my upcoming open-source alternative to PerplexityAI. You guys might have seen my video demo which I posted few weeks before. The code and product is still in dev and needs a shit ton of work before launch yet let me try and gather feedback. So here are the updates - 1. ⁠Share chats 2. ⁠Custom settings 3. ⁠History and Library Upcoming features - 1. ⁠Multi-LLM support 2. ⁠Image generation 3. ⁠Support for Plugins Note: I am still working on it and as it's very expensive for me to manage this, I am going to charge users a subscription. For now it is free as all data will be deleted before launch. I guess having a subscription is better than donation as it helps building progress and gives me freedom to work on more and better features. Hey guys, as I said in my last post, I am think of building an open-source version of Perplexity to show people how easy it is. But with all the existing tools available what features would you want? Anything specific? What is missing? If you are in marketing or growth can anyone help me with what to focus on while building such an app? Also here is a very first version.
