Very cool! I imagine Third Wave stores to be quite profitable.
Seems to be a PE round, so we should be seeing a lot more Third Waves in a lot more cities :)
Why are they popular? Never been to one of their cafes but I see so many people talking about them.
Is the coffee that good?
It’s just good Cafes
I prefer them to Starbucks - better coffee while having a good/better ambience
Okay. I believe they are actually a coworking space with coffee. That's why they seem to be tightly coupled with the startup ecosystem and are hyped by techbros.
Although there would still be some people who actually go there to enjoy coffee/ambience.

They allow you to hangout for hours with free WiFi. It's chill and relaxed. Pricing is not exorbitant. Many people work there but many more go to just chill, eat something and catch up with things. I like to think it's a mix of a cooler CCD and a cheaper Starbucks.
People always give me a side eye though when I bring my gaming laptop with RGB everywhere /s

As a coffee enthusiast I can tell you they have sacrificed the quality of their beans significantly for quantity. But looks like the majority do not care about their coffee, so they are doing good by being in between a CCD and Starbucks.

Any coffee recommendations?
I currently like Davidoff Rich Aroma (red one).

All things aside, their menu sucks and needs a major revamp. I force myself to get something for the sake of it.
