for me. i spent college studying for grades and 20s making money in a job I don't like, but never got to make the memories I should've with all my friends. I regret doing all of that

So a few weeks back one of my friends was going back to his house after having a few beers at our place. He was riding his bike and just a few meters away from his home he got caught by cops and was asked to blow into the breathalyser( the alcohol tester). And the reading turned out to be 42, two units more than the permissible limit of 40. They sacked his bike and told him he has to go to court, pay the fine and only then the bike will be released. Our friend called us and told us what had happened. Me and my fiancé went to the police station to see what the scene was. They told the same thing and when we asked why they let other drunk people go and if we can see their test results, the cop was like , the machine switched off and we couldn’t take the test for other people or some shit(apparently there were people not even able to stand properly and were let go, a/c to our friend) My fiancé was hell bent on asking why they only had seized our friend’s bike and no else’s vehicle and I tried to stop him from getting too involved as the argument started heating up and it wasn’t going to help anyone at this point. Fast forward to few days, there was no online challan for his bike still and the cop tells our friend that he needs to pay them in the police station itself that too CASH. Not online. They said once you pay us cash, some OTP will come and you can share that next day in the station. It did seem fishy but the bike was just lying outside the police station and the process wasn’t getting started. And we told ourselves out loud “let’s trust the police and not over think things”. After a day or two these guys went and paid off the cop 13k ( 10k is drunken drive fine btw and 3k for some other shit they took) with no physical record of that transaction. Our friend still awaits that OTP from the station :/ P.S. few lessons from this to the readers: Firstly, please don’t drink and drive as you’re putting a lot of lives at risk. Secondly, if you’re caught for a drunken drive case, know that cops can’t take spot fine for it, only in court this can happen, is what I know( if this OTP thing is true do let us know in comments if you know any cops or if you are one) Also all suggestion are welcome on how he could have handled it better because police wasn’t proceeding with the challan and the bike was going to stay stuck forever there outside the station. I live in Bangalore with 2 other flatmates in a popular society in Bellandur. This one night my flatmate started doing some Nashe because his Hinge date stood him up at the restaurant. I was like whatever. Who even cares about this. I had to go on a date with this girl I had been seeing for a couple of weeks. We went to Ironhill Bangalore and had a great time. She said that she wanted to see my society. So we went there afterwards and one thing led to another and we ended up in my room. The next morning when I woke up I heard someone scream. It was my flatmate who saw my date leaving and he started crying saying that she was the one who stood him up. I took him to his room to calm down. Tab tak she left. Later that day he started drinking a lot because of this and blamed his qismat. I did not know that he was drinking and I only came to know later. That was a big mistake for me. I had to go on a trip the next day so I was busy packing. I asked him to get me 10,000 cash from ATM while I would go to get printouts of papers I needed in my village. He took my wallet and left. 2 hours later. He came back home and gave me the transaction receipt. Apparently, he kept the transaction receipt in his left pocket and ripped up Rs. 10,000 ke notes in full Nashe and threw them away thinking that it was the reciept. I slapped him so hard that day and asked him to vacate the flat. Made him sleep on the bloody footpath that night. AITA? What else could have I done?

I was standing near Whitefield in my 4 wheeler around midnight, just away from the hustle bustle of the fast life, smoking a cigarette and had a beer 1 hour before the incident (beer can was present in the car) when a police Jeep stopped and asked me to come out. They checked my entire car (to find more illegal drugs 'read Marijuana') but didn't find anything. Started threatening me with the car seizure. When I asked them to do breath analyzer test as I was 100% sure of being in the permissible limit, they asked me to come to police station for the same after they issue me a challan. How can they issue a drink driving challan when I am not drunk and without a breath analyzer? And started threatening me with 25000 rs fine plus car being released in 6 months plus more than a lac of rupees in lawyer cost. (Ofcourse bullshitting me) They were doing the proper good cop bad cop tactic and I had to pay them 7k bribe just to get out of there. (Couldn't risk the whole court drama, couldn't afford time as I was roaming without the knowledge of my family and avoid anxiety to them and my car also has northern registration) But is this justified ? Can we not even smoke a cigarette in our vehicle in this godforsaken city ? Do we need to be mindful of the goons or the police ? Anyways, what is the best way to get out of such situations?

This happened to my ex flatmate in 2019. He's a Chinese Indian guy from Kolkata (relevant), was working an entry level job at a FAANG company going home after a night shift on his bike. Drunk local on a bike starts swerving around in front of him, he tries to overtake but is forced to stop because the guy blocked his way and braked hard. This happened near Marathahalli. Drunk guy comes up to him and starts blabbering dumb shit, accusing him of stealing his phone followed by racist comments. Then proceeds to call the cops from his phone which was actually in his own pocket (make of that what you will). Cops take them both to the station. Drunk guy cooks up some story in Kannada and leaves. Cops start grilling my flatmate, more racist comments, threaten to go check his room (our flat) and start bullying him. Said he kind of looked like one of the wanted posters they had. He knew basic kannada so he had an idea of what racist stuff the cops were saying about him that they thought he didn't understand. He was messaging me updates in the brief moments that he had his phone with him, which was confiscated by cops for the most part. Eventually they let him go because there was literally no crime and no proof. Tl;dr - He had to spend 6+ hours in the station because of one drunk asshole and racist cops who just liked to give non-locals a hard time for no good reason.

I am a middle class guy working as a senior engineer in one of the product companies. I belong from the north-east, and I am the only child in my family. Since covid, I was working in a wfh setup. Recently, my company has ended work from home for everyone, and I am supposed to move to Bangalore very soon or quit. I am an active user on all social media groups on Reddit, Fb, etc. For the past couple of months after seeing so much of negative news about Bangalore, Especially the high population, skyrocketing rents, the auto unions, corruption, cut-throat competition, discriminative news, traffic issues, etc. It makes me nervous to be honest. My wfh here was pretty chill, and I had a very limited social circle here, but was satisfied since I could spend most time with my mom and dad. Im very afraid now about what should I do next, shall I quit the job and search for wfh, or shall I make my move. I don’t have any acquaintances there, no friends, no idea about what I’ll be doing next, how to start house hunting, or job hunting. At this point I am miserable and overwhelmed to think about all of this. Anyone who has gone through all of these, If you can share your 2cents, experiences or thoughts, about how you dealt this phase. It will be really helpful for me at this point in my journey.
