feeling depressed after my startup failure.

took the plunge, started up last year. burned all savings, couldn't raise any capital.

tried multiple things, nothing took off.

decided to shut down in june. shutting down was harder than starting up, finished things up by october.

been looking for jobs since, with no luck. had kick-ass jobs prior to this. no clue what is happening now.

really want to give starting up another shot but have lost all motivation.

so lost. no idea what to do.

One good thing you did which is not possible by many founders is 'failing fast'. Giving up is also not easy, atleast you took a decision without hurting further. You just need to shoutout in multiple platforms about job, you are going to get it. Take a break from starting up. Set back. Plan the business model with less capital intensive and relaunch after couple of months or years. You can always start-up again there is no definite time.

haha I get this a lot. calling quits early is a good thing.

I was in a similar phase last year. After these situations what helps in finding a joba is look for early stage companies, preferably in seed stage, they are very keen on hiring people like you. Reach out to them via your network or direct contact. Applying via portals and in big companies will always be a pain in such scenarios.

How did that turn out for you? have you landed somewhere? -- no one in network doing a seed stage funded startup. have tried a few reachouts but no luck yet. keeping at it.

It was a struggle initially, but once I was able to figure out that these are the sort of companies where I should be looking at, it got easier. I was able to land 3 offers by the end of a process which lasted 3-4 months. I reached out to the companies who raised their seed or pre seed rounds within 1 year time frame. And there were so many founders from IIT, reached out to them directly, that helped a bit since I'm also an IIT grad.

Currently I'm in a seed stage company who raised funding last year.

Reach out to founders. Ping them on LinkedIn. They will definitely understand the phase you are going through.

Also don't look for fancy job titles or big CTC now. Just land a role that will give you financial stability for the short time and help you get mental peace for a proper job search.

founder reachouts have not helped much. financial stability is not an issue, living with parents now. the mental peace aspect, yes.

started with an online competitions platform first, pivoted to gen Ai based learning app.

math is, I had about 5-6 lakhs of savings. lost it all. co-founder put in around 3 lakhs. net around 10lakhs lost from our end.

1+1 was hard when you were in 1st grade, but almost second nature by 3rd grade. Right? The only way out is forward. I take it that you're courageous(guts to start your own venture) and thoughtful(decided to stop the show when it didn't work). All I have to offer you is, just walk both figuratively and literally (physical workout helps out with depressive thinking).
